CT alarm issue, how common is it?

Have you had issues with the alarm going off randomly?

My Porsche dealer (near cologne) told me today that I should not believe every statement in the World Wide Web :D
According to him, they will again read the error memory (not sure if that’s the correct English word) and sent the data to Porsche to be analyzed. Then they will be told if replacing some parts will fix the issue or not…
Day 3 now and still no false alarm so I am happy with the fix. I can obviously only report from my own experience but my Porsche Zentrum did an amazing job dealing with the issue, keeping me informed and putting enough pressure on the guys in Stuttgart to get this fixed for me. But you should of course not believe everything on the www and keep living with the issue on a 150+k car ?.

Good to hear. Is this going to be fixed as part of a recall?
I unfortunately don’t have any background information and if there are going to be different fixes for the problem. It is kinda strange that it does seem to be somehow app related and that hardware is the solution, but I won’t complain. In my case it fixed the issue and (until now) I am happy.

So, I've had my car a few months. It's had the red SOS light issue until that was fixed just a few days ago (so no cloud connectivity), but no alarm problems. A few hours after I get home from the dealer fixing that, the alarm starts going off for the first time :). I had the Porsche Connect app installed. Switched to the My Porsche app and all was good for a day, but it just went off again while charging in the garage. Add me to the list wanting a permanent fix I guess.

Posted in another thread. Didn't have any apps installed, double click with the fob and disable interior alarm thing and still goes off randomly. Super obnoxious and embarrassing

I've found that unchecking the check box for enabling interior monitoring on the PCM when shutting the car off has stopped our false alarms. The double click on the key fob is hit or miss.

I've done everything posted on here, nothing seems to work. Alarm seems to go off at night though....

Should add that out of my 50 or so false alarms: IT IS SO LOUD IT DRIVES ME INSANE! Or wakes my kid up or damages our ear drum if we’re next to the car. This is a weak design flaw and Porsche needs to CORRECT this immediately. Even if clicked off in PCM, the next time the door opens its back on automatically. Or you simply forget to click it off when getting out, very easy to do and I’m rushing out of the bank to unlock the car. They’ve saddled a brilliant car with a fatal flaw.

If it can really be defeated with the two ’slow’ clicks, I’ll be happy again, haven’t tried it yet.

Get with it PORSCHE!

2 week old car here and had the alarm issue for the first time last night, parking on a level driveway that gave me no problems the week before.

Suspect this red sensor above the interior mirror is the interior motion sensor. If it is, then I understand why it goes off so easily as it is not actually held securely in place; the tension of its red cord is the only thing keeping it in position.

Can you try putting a piece of tape or something similar over it to see if that fixes the issue pending a more permanent solution from Porsche?

This is my line of thinking too. I plan to use some double-sided foam tape to "diffuse" the sensor's readings and hopefully rectify the issue.

First however I need to find a convenient location where the alarm reliably gives false positives, then I will be better positioned to gauge the efficacy of a foam tape fix.

Same issue here - hugely annoying. It appeared to start happening since I activated the PVTS+ but perhaps as I only had it a few weeks before doing this the problem was there all along.

MY22 Collected October and alarm very sporadic in nature. Not been impressed with the Service team at the dealer thus far given this data is out there and many report it's a known issue on these cars.

Have managed to improve matters with the double click method - but clearly not sustainable so here's hoping to a fix soon else we are getting into rejection of car territory.....

Good news. I was called in by my dealership as Porsche Stuttgart has reported a fix for the alarm issue. The interior motion sensors have been replaced by a modified version which has a new partnumber. Obviously the original must have had a production or design flaw. The replacement was done yesterday and so far no false alarms. In my case I would have had at least one by now so I am quite convinced that the issue is now resolved. Will keep you updated.
Is the fix they installed last week for the alarm issue still working?

Just took delivery of our 4S CT on 12/31 (built mid November), and it has this issue also. Double clicking “lock” on the remote works as a temporary fix.

Yes, indeed. I have just commented on this in another thread.

No more false alarms since the sensor replacement. Have actually not had any issue what so ever with the car since. I am really happy now with this brilliant car, now that everything works.

For those still having the issue, when you do the "double click workaround", you have to watch the turn indicator feedback. It has to confirm your (slow) double click with a short-short-long blink. If you receive a single long blink you were too fast and have to unlock and try again.
