After several months' ownership, I'm yet to find a single use for this massive amount of real estate on the lower console.
What do you use it for?

My ideal, would be to add 3 large buttons - one to change media source, one for previous and another for next station / track.

It's a tracker pad for scrolling through menus etc. Notwithstanding, you're right it's a total waste of space. There are ay number of things that would be more useful.

Yep - tried the trackpad but it's worse than using the menus - imprecise, laggy and dangerous to use whilst driving.

3D parking - rotate the image via this panel
finger writing
scrolling
volume control (2 finger swipe)

Try adjusting the haptic touch and speed in the PCM settings...

There is no feature in the Taycan that I use less than the track pad. As a left hand dominate person, it is useless.

Lefty here too. Never use it, except to control volume after I've parked the car and even then, it's a little buggy - doesn't always work. Would love a previous track button. My diamond is set to next track. WTF do I use if I wanna hear that song again?

Agree 100% with forward / back.
Symptom of under developed software that should be a relatively easy fix.
Had a Macan GTS loaner for a week whilst they fiddled with mine, and it was no better in this regard. So, it seems to be a Porsche thing rather than unique to a Taycan.
