EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

I stopped using them because they took minutes to connect as opposed to CarPlay that would connect and start playing music in 10 seconds without me doing anything

And also, CarPlay audio integrates quite well with the PCM displays. So there’s no obvious benefit in using the native app.

The only argument is that wireless CarPlay compresses audio. But that’s easily resolved by using wired CarPlay.

Oh boy...

the logo's and the spinner indicated a full reboot. That is even worse than just a crashing navigation app. But the "good" news is, this is a safety issue, so needs to be fixed quicker than 11 months.

This issue is common and is also present on J1.2.
The navi is not actually crashed, something just seems to go into a loop. Just press the phone shortcut button after 20-30s on the climate display. It will switch to phone and then you can switch to any other view and it all works.

I have had it 3 times on my J1.2.

anyone else missing Apple Music and Spotify in their car after the update?

For me, they’ve simply disappeared…

Native PCM apple music and podcast apps work same as pre-update for me, still take a while to start up and randomly log out /log back in to Apple account! I’ve been using them along with pcm nav to test the update, but CarPlay will be daily screen again soon.

Just some feedback after the update. After picking up the car, I immediately drove about 350 km to Germany for the weekend using the navigation system. The navigation now works exactly as expected. I was given a current Taycan as a loan car, and I honestly feel that the navigation system now has a very similar response time.

I also really like the new additional options and the preferred charging station features. The navigation-related issues seem to have been resolved.



Regarding music:

It may still be downloading or synchronizing on my vehicle, but I was mainly using the native music app because of the better audio quality compared to wireless CarPlay. I’ll test it with a cable connection, and if there’s no compression, I’ll be perfectly happy using it that way as well.

Just be aware that simply plugging via USB might not be sufficient for CarPlay to work in wired mode.

Wireless mode will kick in the moment a successful Bluetooth connection is established. So if you want to force wired mode, you’ll have to remove the Bluetooth connection to the PCM in your phone.

Wired CarPlay mode doesn’t compress audio, as it uses lossless encoding. So you’ll experience equivalent quality to what you’re used to, but arguably, with a more polished Spotify (or in my case Tidal) UI.

We in other parts of the world are happy you European Taycan owners took the lead in identifying this problem and prompting Porsche to fix it before it affected us.

I’ve had my car three years and of that, one entire year has been without working navigation. I’m pleased Porsche have woken up but patience has been well and truly tested

When my car was going in for service last week I mentioned my navigation issues and the dealer indicated they had an update to fix this (the update mentioned in this thread). Sure enough, nav works again.

To my surprise, after few days later my dealer calls me to ask if I have any videos of the nav crashing, to send to Porsche for my warranty claim. It is so bizarre to me that they ask for evidence for this fix which is so well established, and also that they apparently are fine with not updating people who don’t have these issues now to a nav with the latest features. This company really is living in a different century.

My Taycan also got the V3892 PCM Software installed last week. I also had to provide a video demonstrating the nav problem. The PCM is running much more stable now and has the new features mentioned before, but I've nevertheless experienced another crash. (Black screen with Porsche letters). So the crashes seems not 100% solved yet, but at least way better and finally usable. It was recommended to set the filter to charging stations >150kW to further improve stability.

True. It’s quite ridiculous to demand a being-a-roadhazard video!
I nontheless managed to make two in a row just now. A full navi-crash and a huge delay (picked back up 3 traffic lights later ) .
Was lucky to be on an empty road / traffic light. Thursday I’m at my PC and make the appointment with proof in hand

Mine's going in on Wednesday, they haven't requested a video and I won't use the car until then...so I'll have to try and make it crash on the way there I think just in case
