I reviewed the invoice, and the update costs 550€. It seems they’ll need a case to obtain that amount from Stuttgart. Pfff, Germans and their bureaucracy.

My assumption is that the hydraulic lift that gets blocked during the update likely has a half-day or full-day tariff. Including dealer taxes, the cost will be in the few hundreds after a short period.

Just had the update completed this morning. Took about 4 hours in total. The nav now seems to be working way better. The route planner actually works finally. It's no longer shutting down every 10-20 mins. Also the route planner gives you a few more options when planning your route if you select the 'adjust' button (you can now choose your preferred charging network and also the minimum charger speed). As chun said the sport sound has changed too. All good so far.

4hrs is a very long update isn’t it, in the world of computers you could download and install an entire operating system in far less time. I wonder what’s causing it to take so long

But no, really, there is no proper update delivery pipeline for the OS. “Updates” are the files of the new PCM version copied to a usb stick; and then mounted via PIWIS; which essentially performs a copy-overwrite.
They just recently stopped including in the updates the file in which user settings are stored, so it no longer gets replaced with an empty file.
