EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues

My UK dealer have confirmed it's a known issue but have no further info on release date or installation process. I've just booked a trip to Germany in late May, and booked the ferry with the Taycan registration, but I'm not holding out hope for a fix before then...

I'm off to Europe late May too, but am planning on using CarPlay mainly rather than miss out the opportunity to use the Taycan on the nice highways. Since disabling charge planning mine has been fine too

Similar story, Porsche centre told me this week they don’t have a date for the fix.

Group driving trip down to south of Spain end of May, my geriatric 986 boxster is usually the car for such things but thinking about the Taycan for this one given the distance.

Nearly two months after mine was in because of the crashing PCM, the nav has started restarting while in use today. I guess this will progress onto full PCM crashes just as it was. Any hope that the update to 3885 had fixed it or it was a backend server problem gone.

That is very curious. I had my nav updated to 3885 6 weeks ago and it had been fine ever since. Last week we had a longer trip (350km) where I used the nav with no issues. Then when I tried monday morning it immediately started crashing after a few minutes. And now it's back to being consistently useless until you disable the charge planner.

Luckily I never use the charge planner anyways so I'll just disable it for my upcoming trips.

Rest easy everyone....

I no longer care about my PCM crashing because I can change themes on MyPorsche. I can put a widget on my phone and the app now also tells me how picturesque Brentwood and Billericay (Essex, UK. Not the prettiest parts) are (they probably put the PCM programmer on that bit!).

Looks a long thread, hope my problem fits in

when they switched winter tyres to summer, they performed some software upgrade as well (haven’t had time to ask for details).
After that i found out that navigation stopped after few minutes, also got message that traffic sign recognition doesn’t work. Also compass doesn’t move anymore. After few seconds. navigstion loaded back, compass operates again, also traffic sign recognition came back.
When i set destination … screen became black after few minutes again….compass stopped, traffic sign no more working
After 5th or 6th try…. navigation loading till the rest of our (260km) journey. No compass, no traffic recognition as well.

When i came back home, i just lock/unlock the car, and everything looks fine again.
Will see next trip… but todsy it was 3rd time with same problems.

anyone with similar behaviour?

I think I have experienced this yesterday driving from Somerset to London.

Pre-programmed the route with a charge stop on my phone and sent it to the car. Made it 5 minutes before crashing and restarting losing the route. Resent it and this time it lasted around an hour before crashing again.

Switched to Apple Maps and had no further problems.

Exactly the same. Turn off charge management.

I’m not using any charge management; no timers, no profiles on J1.2 …. I just plug & charge till 80%
Also, i have no idea, how could be charge management related to navigation?

Bad software and bad QA. It appears that the charging planner is consuming excessive resources, causing navigation to crash.

I still don’t get it… since i got 3phase for my summer house, i charge at my houses only, so i don’t use charge planner anymore
I mainly use navigation for traffic news…

If you have charge planner active you'll see the issues - turn it off in navigation options. It's nothing to do with charging timers and profiles.
