So I took delivery of my Porsche approved 4S on Friday - it's really nice to drive (I'd not driven a 4S prior, only a RWD).

It's nicely specced etc etc however, a couple of issues from day one!

Was driving back from Aberdeen and had planned to stop to charge at Osprey Haddington - only to find that when I plugged the cable in, the car wasn't having any of it... "Charging not possible" and then "Electrical fault" on the dash. Tried this at the three chargers they had there, no luck. Tried again a few miles down at Dunbar (same Osprey fast chargers), same error. Anyone have the same issues? I've not tried it at any other "fast" chargers, so not sure if it's an issue with the car or the chargers. Hmph. Eventually got charged at a 50KW charger elsewhere (albeit for a lot longer than I'd have liked to).

Second issue - the passenger seatbelt isn't detecting when it's fastened... Infinitely annoying when the error keeps popping up everytime the wife moves in her seat and it resets the timeout on the warning! Booked it in for a warranty check in a couple of weeks time, but to be honest I would have thought Porsche Aberdeen would have picked up this kind of issue when doing their approved car checks. Anyone else have the same issue, and how did you get it sorted (imagine it was a trip to the dealers)?

Overall really, really, impressed with the car and despite the admittedly scary charging issue and the annoying seatbelt fault, I can't help but to smile whenever I get into the car!

Superb- envious that you’re in that learning a new car phase. As you have mentioned- raise all with your dealer to get them to investigate- most importantly- enjoy your new purchase.

Your Taycan is beautiful ?

Sorry about the immediate issues with the car… but I wouldn’t sweat it, seems minor. Dealer will fix.

Not sure about the charging. I had issues with my first few public charges but it was user error.

Congrats, and nothing like "unwrapping" a new car and the first few weeks of getting to know it!

Congrats! fast charging should just work, next to the connector, the light is white and when you plug it in it turns red instead of green? Did you scan the Porsche card? Did the display on the station said it tried to initiate a session?

Osprey issue sounds like a comms issue with the EVSE rather than the car.

Did the charge port unlock button go red? Comms issue normally rather than a failed charge port.

Where all 3 Osprey EVSEs at the same location? General issue.

What payment method did you use? Delay in authentication issue or incorrect RFID card.

Ad this is a 2nd hand car it is most odd to have the seat belt warning issue as these faults don't just happen as a rule and reasonably ought to have been detected at inspection time.

BTW any EVSE rated at 50kW is typically regarded as Rapid and anything above Ultra-rapid.

Enjoy!

Always worth holding the charging handle fairly firmly in the port until you hear the click as well, they’re a bit fussy and often if you let go they don’t engage well. That’s what I’ve found.

Congrats on the car. Seatbelt sounds like a back to dealer thing

Thank you all for your lovely responses - the car is superb to drive and the other threads on this are true... You get a lot of people rubbernecking!

Thanks for your response - I am suspecting either a comms issue or a charge card issue. Thing is, I tried three different chargers at Haddington, then also a different Osprey charger further down the A1 and another after that, but no luck! Charger was plugged in properly, it locked, light went white, then red. I tried both with my Octopus Electroverse card and also by normal debit card (my Porsche Charge Card is in the post to me). Really hope it's not a car issue, but I'll give the ultra rapids another try when I go out for the weekend - hopefully won't strand myself!

If it is the 75kW EVSE at Haddington then you can only use the RFID card (Taycan card) according to My Porsche App. You can't use the app either to start the session. Should have worked with a regular payment card however.

So feels like a comms issue.
