Am I the only one being annoyed to see that at least half of the articles about EV's contain mistakes about power and energy units ?
It looks like journalists need to get some basic engineering classes !

I constantly read things like:
"Charging at 100kwh", "The car has a 75kw battery", "We charged 50kw in 20min"

How hard can it be to do this right?
-KiloWatt is 1000 watt and a unit of power. Used for the power of a car or the power of a charger.
-KiloWattHour is 1000 watt during one hour. A unit of energy. Used for the size of a battery. Or energy charged or consumed during a certain time.

Or are only engineers annoyed by this ?

You are right, it annoys me too. One would think it is simple stuff and ‘journalists’ ought to ‘learn the basics’ about stuff they wish to write about !

it is not surprising though... and journalists aren’t the only ones.

The UK government has spent £12,000,000,000 (12 billion GBP) on the smart metering program - and I know of many ministers, civil servants, people in positions of power - they sign off invoices worth £ millions; yet have never seen a electricity or gas meter in their life !
Couldn't spell electricity - but get to decide and spend millions of our (tax payers) money.

And yes, I am a an engineer working in the energy sector and I do get annoyed by this.

<-- Electrical Engineer. It annoys me too.

However, I also think in general Horsepower and Torque have been confused for decades.

Theirs bigger fish for the grammar police to go after.
Your right, ;-)

Being more a 'numbers-guy' instead of a linguistic person, I am more tolerant for grammar mistakes.
Especially in English texts, because I am not a native English speaker. I probably make many mistakes writing English anyway.

It's unacceptable, especially for journalists presenting themselves as subject matter experts.

the media is quite poor on getting any coverage correct, regardless of subject matter or inherent biases.
