We traded in a first gen Panamera 4 for a Taycan 4S last year.

For us, everything is better about the Taycan except for rear cargo space (which we solved by getting a Macan to use for that purpose; can also consider an ST or CT, but I prefer the lines on the sedan) and range (not an issue for us because the Taycan is only for local use).

If you have no other BEV, you should consider your use of the car and whether the range and current charging infrastructure are adequate. For me, it’s inadequate for long trips (which is why our Taycan is only for local use) but many people deal with it, so it’s clearly possible. It’s fine as long as you know what your getting into.

Also consider how you typically drive and how that affects range. Going 85-90mph everywhere isn’t going to yield great range (as one of our [former?] members learned).

The only option we had on our panamera that I miss on the Taycan is powered rear sunshades.

Options recommendations are going to vary. Do you prioritize comfort? Performance? Appearance? What sections are you lost in? Many are pretty similar to other Porsche models.

Maybe you should make a build and post it asking for feedback.

Is Turbo's performance worth the cost? Probably depends on where you're
coming from, what you want to get out of the car, and what general price point you’re at. I’d prefer more options in a 4S or GTS vs a bare Turbo. But if you can afford and justify the Turbo built the way you want, then have at it. But even a Taycan 4S is going to feel much faster than your Panamera E-Hybrid.

Agree 100%, coming from Panamera 4S, GTS, and Turbo S-E Hybrid to well-optioned Taycan Turbo 2020, one thing I miss is the rear sunshade

Sport chrono is just the clock right? I dont know enough to know what I want yet, but so far I THINK this is my wish list:

Upgraded air system
Leather seats, but not the $3500 upgrade from what I read
18 way
adaptive cruise control
Sports Chrono isn't just a clock on the dash - additional driving modes and thumb wheel for selecting on the steering wheel.

Dimensions of the Taycan are the same as the Panama (slightly wider in parts).

More rear seat space, can be more luxurious than the Taycan, you won't be disappointed.

I had a series 1, gen 2 Panamera Diesel and now have a 4S. Size wise very similar (current Panamera would be bigger).
Performance - Taycan in a different league completely to the Panamera - makes my old car (which had 0-60 5.9 secs) seem really slow.
Handling - Taycan more nimble and easier to park (I did not have RWS on either car) but you can get caught out with speed bumps and car park ramps in Taycan even with ride height set to high.
Space - very similar inside, but luggage access not nearly as good in Taycan.
Comfort - I actually think Taycan more comfortable as smoother ride, copes better with rough roads and much quieter.
Range - 95% of my driving is in-town or highway, 30-60km a day. I have not taken Taycan on long journey as we have very limited infrastructure in Australia and plenty of pot-holes, rough roads that shred tyres. With no spare and very limited tyre availability, I tend to take my wife's Volvo for long drives with overnight stay. I used to take the Panamera on longer drives as could do >1000km on one tank, quieter than Volvo and tyres not so rare - had one puncture and sealant actually worked despite an obvious 6-8mm hole.
I was still keen to compare a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with the Taycan 4S, but in Australia you could not find any in a dealer with a car to test drive and for equivalent spec a Panamera would be A$100K more (say US$50K)!

Dang wow . All good points and I appreciate it. Normally I drive about 85-100 but most of my trips are under 50 miles round trip. Should be good on that, right?
Im in Dallas too, so my use is similar to yours. It’s 20-30 miles to get anywhere and the same to get back, right?

I have RWD with the performance battery. I drive hard.
i am seeing around 230 miles range at daily charge of 85% which has been no issue whatsoever.

Remember that when you charge at home, every day is a full tank!

The immediate power and torque will spoil you for ICE.

Thank you for allowing me membership in this forum. I have been searching for information on the internet and came across this website. Needless to say my head is spinning with information. Advance apologies for so many questions. Im overwhelmed.

Currently have a 2019 Panamera E-hybrid as well as a Cayenne Coupe S. I have placed a demand for a Panamera E-hybrid "S". Really wasnt considering a Taycan until a buddy of mine down the street got one. I was actually in Atlanta for the driving experience when the Taycan hit the floor. Prior to this I had a panamera, Panamera S and Cayenne ( decaffeinated not the S)

I was looking at possibly trying to get an allocation for a Taycan Turbo. My questions are:

1. Any of you make the switch from Panamera to Taycan? Any regrets?

2. Is there a section on this site for recommended options when ordering a Taycan? The selections are endless. I built my panamera in like 20 mins. The taycan im a little lost.

3. GTS VS Turbo...... worth an extra 20k?

Thank you folks. Im in Dallas
I had a 2019 Panamera 4 Hybrid, before that a 2017 one and before that a 2015 SE Hybrid (970.1).

I now have a Taycan Turbo, 18 months in.

What I miss - cannot put my dog (Jack Russel) in the boot/trunk ; a decent surround / rear camera - the Taycan camera really is appalling. The sports exhaust (better in the 2017 than the 2019).

The Taycan is a better handling car, I have PDCC in mine but biz partner who hasn't says it still handles a lot better than the Pan which had PDCC.
Its had its issues, but fortunately i only had few small software issue and not for a while ( i also had issues with Panamera's needing 3 injectors and a new GPS module within a few months).
All my cars had Sport Chrono and when you are in the Taycan it is very much a Porsche. I have sports sound too which I like and always have on. (still drool at a good exhaust/engine sounds though).

I am UK, so there is a massive company car tax incentive, especially as its my company.

Would I go back - no, but most likely would go ST Turbo S next time just to get the dog in the back.

For me, and this is subjective, having had mine since 9/20, back then it was very exclusive, now (because of the tax incentive) they are becoming more main stream and I see loads on our roads now, the GTS will be very popular too, hence why I would stick to Turbo or Turbo S - for the exclusivity.

Do you think they improved the camera since your model year?

doubtful - it does suck - but it's workable - I wouldn't avoid the car over this issue.

my first stab. Im sure I have the wrong things in here. I was trying to find the air suspension but couldn't find it.

Important things to me ( based on the shortcomings of my panamera)

Comfortable seats that dont look cheap
AC that actually works like an AC and blows cool
adaptive cruise

Oh and my current panamera the windows are tinted. I need tinting but you cant roll them down because they scratch. So dumb.
I'd go with the Sport Design Package, and at the very least the sport design front fascia. They're minor cosmetic changes but they just do so much to improve the look. Those narrow tear drop slits under the headlights never sat right with me.

is there anything I should remove? I think ill remove the insulated glass. I see some people say they are okay with it, but I have read about 5 posts with people saying stuff about the reception :( The other thing is on my panamera that I hope taycan doesnt have is I can never roll down my windows because it scratches the added tint. Being in texas it gets HOT.

Personal preference thing, but you might reconsider "electric" on the doors in Texas.

Some people here are anti-EV so I don't advertise it.

Also in Dallas and have Panny ST and now a Taycan CT4. We optioned insulated glass and rear axle steer on the Taycan and I wish we had it on the panny.

I’ve posted on numerous threads with dimensions and the reality is that the passenger cabin is a similar size between the two vehicles. The rear of the Taycan has a bit less legroom but the seating position is more upright vs the Panamera. Cargo capacity is clearly different between the two but we’ve been good with three shepherds/lab mixes in the hatch of both wagons. I could probably fit a fourth dog in the Panamera ST if needed while the CT is tapped out with 3 dogs.

No reception issues of note with insulated glass and ATT service (CT has standard glass roof though). The sound deadening of the double pane glass is remarkable as well and something to factor into the daily comfort.

Seats seem very similar between the cars - both have 14 way with ventilation and are comfortable enough to spend hours in.

Re: tint, our panny window tint is scratched to hell and have not seen the same so far with the Taycan, but we’re only a few months in.

I had a panamera GtS and then a taycan 4s and now a taycan turbo S as well as several 911 turbo S. I’d get the taycan turbo of you want the sweet spot. Taycan is miles more fun to drive than the Panamera IMO. For me after having the 4s for a year I wanted more so I went all out with a massively loaded Turbo S but the Turbo is probably the sweet spot for cost/performance. The question is can you get one. I hear allocations are hard to get.
