@Jasper4S at least the technology expert at this one PC gave these information with the appendix that the (potential & partial) update could happen through smaller „coding“ upgrades that they are not made actively aware off.

We are talking here about a bigger Upgrade for the J1 II platform. It was explained to me like iOS 17 -> iOS 18 for the car. And this bigger upgrade is currently not planned for pre-facelift models, to the best of his knowledge.

Mine is currently in the shop having a new electric charge door module and the WRV3 Update. Tech has confirmed there is no two-finger reset with the new software 🙈
I think the only work around is to do a factory reset of the PCM and set up again from scratch. Most settings load when you log back in with your Porsche Account so not too big a chore.

Not giving us a quick reboot mechanisms is a bad choice. The software is far from bug-free. Sometimes we lose a bit of functionality, eg charge planning gets stuck, and a quick reboot when on the road is needed. I don't want to pull up for 15 minutes to do a complete reset and reload settings.

Yep, the charge planner getting stuck is a frequent occurrence and as you say a quick reboot while driving sorts it out

I update my iPhone immediately when I get an update notification, same as I did with my old Tesla. So, of course, I took my Taycan to the dealer yesterday for the latest-and-greatest (in addition to the battery recall inspection, blah blah blah). Will report back on Friday or Saturday when it's done. :like:

Bad news for us J1 owners. I got a call from my service advisor. There is no update available for the pre-facelift cars at this time. ❌ It's possible this is the state for US cars... not sure. My current software version info is MPR3_US-POG46_K3882, PCM version 3882. And I was so looking forward to Apple CarPlay updates. 😭

CarPlay MAPS in the cluster won't be coming to this gen unfortunately. I had my 25 updated to the latest software and got CarPlay directions in the cluster and HUD. Talked to Porsche corporate about it and they said it won't come until the next gen. 25 Electric Macan has it because it has newer hardware than Taycan. Kind of bummed out and perplexed 25 Macan and taycan have different hardware.

Can confirm. Just got my 2023 Taycan serviced, all software updates done. Looks like we're not in the club.

Just got my 2025 Taycan back from the dealer after service.

Carplay in the HUD/Driving Cluster is game changer. I love it. They also added in full color wheel for Ambient Lighting so we now have more than just the 10 or so options they had before. It’s a full on color wheel. It is great.

Oh and the battery indicator on the J1.2 driver cluster that showed expected speeds for fast charging is more exact. It doesnt just go in 10kW increments. It will go in between and give exacts which is kinda cool.

It’s really bitter to read these J1 II updates and have the Jada Jada saying in mind from 2021 that they want to have a software first car and upgrade everything that is possible for J1 I (like even new battery technology)

I hope we will see some of these things come down to J1 I, but expect it not happening before at least 1 year or so.

I understand that they need to drive 2025 sales first but I honestly hope that they do not forget us.. such a joke..

edit: I would pay my Porsche connectivity service as a no-brainer if I get these features. Now I am happily living without them since 6 months and 15k km..
The only company that I know of that which ports as many features as supported by the hardware to old cars, even decade old cars, is Tesla. I hear, though no personal experience like with Tesla (drove them for a decade, so saw a decades worth of features added even to my oldest one which I kept for almost 8 years), that some of the other upstarts like Rivian, Lucid, Nio, etc. are also doing it. Traditional auto companies are not using this model.

That said, even with Tesla, some features require newer hardware, so people do read with envy about new features available on cars bought even just a month later than they bought (Tesla changes hardware without any regard for model year), but will never be available for them.
