Replying to @calchoi in July deliveries: "My car just arrived at Benicia CA yesterday, anyone else on the same boat? Any ideas when it will be ready to be delivered to the dealership?"

Mine also arrived in Benicia on the same day, July 21. Cars are on stop delivery for a "software update". Although TYD says it will be delivered to my dealer (Porsche Marin) Aug 10, I had planned to do an LA pick up at PECLA. I contacted PECLA to make an appointment and they said they couldn't book it until the stop delivery was lifted, but could hold a tentative date for me. Earliest date was Sept. 27! I have been waiting 19 month for this car, so I canceled my PECLA delivery and will have it delivered to my dealer when the hold is lifted, whenever that is.

If you are planning a PECLA delivery, I would keep this in mind.
My GTS has been in Benicia since June 14th, with a Hold Sale waiting on a software update. Also going to Porsche Marin. Last date to transport is July 26th, which hasn’t changed on TYD since. There are thousands of cars waiting on an update I’m told, and they’re not being processed quickly. I’m hoping to get it this month, but no one can say how long it may be.

My guess is that updates are needed to deal with charging/battery cell issues that require re-measurement. Due to supply chain issues, the actual chips used in each car could vary and require individualized attention.

Hopefully, yours will go through more quickly.

Woo Hoo! Just got an email from Porshe stating our car is on a ship. Checked TYD and it's the Lake Taupo, which is moored in Emden right now.

Sadly it doesn't get to the dealer until Aug 31 under the current TYD timeline, so I guess I'm off to start a September thread. It's possible that the 22 days to reach Houston is pessimistic. That's sort of consistent with making 3 or 4 stops prior to reaching Houston, so we might just squeak in at the end of August yet.

6 ships at Jacksonville within 2 weeks. Apart from Siem Confucius that is already at berth on 8/5, here are the 5 more coming up:

Well, my car has arrived in Houston (on Lake Wanaka, after a trip to Canada and Mexico) and will hopefully appear at the dealer this week.
How long did it take to be released from the port to the dealership?

Ship docked late on July 28; TYD said the car arrived in port July 31 (Monday); car released August 3 (Thursday). This was at the Port of Houston.
That’s good to know. My vehicle also arrived and I am waiting to hear from my SA if it has left the port. He was on vacation last week so didn’t have an update. TYD now estimating delivery on the 12th

Question please - is there an average time after the ship docks at port to when the car gets loaded for transport - days or weeks?
To my fellow Toronto, Canada - any experience you can share on the time it took from Halifax to Toronto?

Thanks

Ships are typically in port for 48 hours or less.

Porsche budgets 5 days for in port and customs processing in TYD and that's probably close to reality unless there's a sales hold. The recent WNT8 hold was at least 30 days.

Hope for two days; be happy with less than a week.

Thank you. Yes, I figured there's a 'push' to get the ship moving out and the delay is more so on Porsche end. Mine is a 2024 GTS but no clue if there's any hold. TYD has large date ranges. Maybe August is possible :)

Well, later today is delivery day for me, and I feel nervous* and excited—perhaps like my kids do on Christmas Eve—taking this a bit too seriously probably! I put a deposit down as soon as deposits were allowed in the US, then got a refund when I saw the pricing of the Turbo, then aged a few years while constantly reading about the Taycan, and now here we are.

Tell me I’m not the only one with a knot in my stomach the day of!

*mostly about the separate transaction to sell my existing car an hour before Taycan pickup.

Very best of luck. My car is still being processed at the dealer but I think similar emotions are likely. I’m using the “downtime” to get some competitive loan approvals. Fortunately I sold my Macan privately a few months ago (I’m quite sure prices have dropped since then) so I don’t have to deal with that aspect of the transaction. I’m sure the delight of finally driving away from the dealer will eclipse everything else. Have fun

If i were to consider the amount of time I have spent on this car from the idea, to deciding, to spec'ing, to tracking, to following the ship every waking day, to now where it's at the port and im refreshing when the ship leaves the port so I can tell the onboarding is done....what you're feeling is only natural! This is what it's all about, life is short! Experience it!

Congrats! please do post pics. I hope to be in your shoes in a few weeks!
