December 2023 Deliveries

I've just had confirmation from my Wilmslow dealer that my 4S will be delivered today!

Octopus EV had held up the payment for almost 2 weeks with the car sat at the dealers, but finally they have paid and I should get an early Christmas present.

13 months end to end, what a journey - can't wait to see it / drive it finally!!!

I'm ignoring all the bad press re dropping values - if I'm happy that's all that counts right!

Took delivery of my CT4 yesterday, what a car
Will provide some better pics as soon as weather allows. Here one first shot from about 5 seconds after reveal.

Additional updates: Detail + PPF is going well. I also plan to get the Thinkware U3000 Front & Rear dashcam + Thinkware iVolt Extra installed after the PPF is complete. Then it'll be fully commissioned for use by the family.

As a funny side note, the dealer did a great job overall with the order and delivery process except for two things:

Fragrance Wafers: For some reason their detailer felt the need to add fragrance wafers to the car. When I received the car it smelled ridiculously strong. Almost like they were trying to cover up someone throwing up in the car or something. The salesperson kind of brushed it off like it was something that 'wasn't normal' and that they'd look into it. I didn't really get a follow-up and when I filled out the survey from Porsche saying the sales experience wasn't perfect, I finally got a call from a manager, who offered to at least change the internal cabin filters. There were over 20 fragrance wafers tucked all over the car. Needless to say, I didn't get the 'new car smell' but instead got a strong whiff of "clean car fragrance"​

Responsiveness of Salesperson: Sales manager was great, but sales person I worked with was on & off with his responsiveness. They always played it cool, but sometimes I would have to ask the same question several times to get a response. Since the car was purchased at a dealer away from my home, I had a friend check out the car before I received it. When he looked at it found an issue with one of the panels that looked like it was not properly installed. When he pointed it out the salesperson, he mentioned the guy didn't seem to be interested to see what panel was off, giving the impression that it might not be resolved. I followed up several times during the process of waiting for my paperwork to process & the wire transfer to be acknowledged. I thought perhaps they'd intelligently use that time to resolve any issues, but the delivery was delayed 4 days because they had to get the car in line for the service department to handle the issue. Image below of the panel, which shouldn't have required me to hop in line with service cars. The above fragrance issue unfortunately happened my friend saw the car as well.​

Honestly, I'm sure the above issues would have happened differently had I lived nearby and handled paperwork and delivery all in one day. I thought I'd document this as the fragrance issue really bothers me when I think about it. The thing that bothers me the most about it is nobody has followed up to explain how it even happened. Both salesperson & sales manager continue to make it seem like it's some crazy mystery.​
