Can somone please explain to me the difference between Porsche Mobile Charger, Mobile Charger Plus and Universal Charger?

With my taycan 4s My24, I got the Unversal Charger...is this a new, old, base version of the others?

thx as usual

I think the mobile charger was replaced with the universal charger. I doubt it means much difference for most people as I doubt whether many people got the tail for it that allowed 3 phase charging on the original mobile charger. The cable on the universal charger is slightly thinner and more flexible

You have the latest standard offering.

All are "mobile" and only differ with maximum power output.

Historically, PMC (old) offered 3.6kW (16A) or 9.6kW (32A /40A).. PMC+ offered 9.6 kW (32A /40A). For single phase home electric supplies PMC+ was preferred as it offered more power and therefore faster to charge the car. PMC+ replaced the PMC if it was ever offered on the Taycan. Base PMC would have been shipped with Porsche hybrids.

Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC) also features and could deliver 11kW to 22kW (19.6 kW) if you had a 3 phase electric supply to feed it. Taycan has a standard 11kW AC charger on-board which could optionally be upgraded to 22kW (19.6kW) at considerable cost.

Perfect home AC charging would therefore be 3 phase supply, 22kW (19.6kW) onboard AC charger plus the PMCC to deliver the fastest home charging setup.

The Universal Charger (UC) is now the new entry point and perfect for home overnight charging - 32A supply to support 7.2kW.

Note that it is essential to have a 32A supply otherwise the available charging power will be halved. Cables also matter as do the connectors but I think the UC comes with the complete 32A setup.

I’m a little confused about the chargers and the charger recall, APB6 (Charging cables need to be replaced). When I bought my car last month, the cables and charger were removed. I’ve submitted my reimbursement so I’ve got what I need. Is Porsche planning to just change the cables for folks with the chargers or are they planning to ship new chargers and cables to everyone? If they are shipping new ones, what benefit would their be in having one over a 3rd party charges that I already have?

PMC+/PMCC are different for North America vs Euro

there is no recall for euro units

information. in this thread is for euro units and has no relevance for North American units
