I've read that sentiment enough times that I will never consider buying one of these pre-owned.
There are ways to determine the battery degradation. A friend of mine just bought a used Tesla with 35,000 miles and his 'guy' checked the battery health through an iPhone app. And apparently battery health is a new feature in the Service menu of the Tesla app.

Great to hear that they introduced a battery health feature directly into the app. I have my EVs on Recurrent which tracks battery health over long periods of time. At some point this data will likely make it into the "CarFax."

Its not about if 100% charging hurts battery life but rather how long car is parked at 100% charged.

Manufactures like to take very conservative approach , some can thank their lawyers, stating recommended charging level not knowing how each drives.

I charge to full and drive immediately. And its a daily driver. If I were to park for days to weeks, will not pump till the brim......

my taycan at 85% and 993 get the same range on a tank.. so it doesnt bother me at all. Id rather plug in for a bit at home while im not using the car vs having to stop somewhere random to pump gas and waste time!!!

its different first - not better or worse

Completely different here: I do not like charging to 100% cause of the missing recuperation on the breake pedal on the first few km...

Regular charging to 90% since more than two years now.
I only once experienced loss of recoup right after driving off with 100% charged. The recoup is limited but enough for the first 5km. After that not an issue at all for my driving environment...

Yes, recoup is back soon. But the first view breaking proccesses are very "surprising/ strange" because of the longer pedal way.

The amount of people I read on this message board saying they don't care about battery maintenance because they won't own the car when the battery degrades makes me embarrassed to be lumped in with you all as an owner. Not because I care so much about the battery but it just shows what kind of people you are.

I'd like to see you go on Rennlist and tell everyone about how you don't do scheduled oil changes because you don't care, you won't own the car when the engine goes. It's no different.

Do we really need to only charge to 85% to keep the battery health?. I did this for the first year under the advice of the dealer and now just plug it in every day when I get to work and leave it to charge to whatever it ends up to be with my travel for meetings etc. There’s a long warranty on the battery and tbh it’s probably the only thing that hasn't broken on mine yet! 8 dealer visits so far for warranty repairs the latest being one of the cup holder spring arms which have disappeared into the black hole under the armrest. I can’t even imagine trying to explain to my better half why she should only go to a charge percentage on an EV she already thinks the car is ridiculous and is just an iPhone with 4 wheels.

Yes, that happens, when you break beyond what the recup can handle. You can see that on the gray curve on the central dial...

I understand the sentiment. When I refuel my ICE car, I am one of those people that fills it to the very top…there is something that is satisfying about that. I would ideally prefer to refuel my EV in the same way. Not because I need the range but because there is something more satisfying/complete about it. I will get used to 85% for sure but it’s not what I would prefer to do.
Just wondering how often you top up your ice car while at home? I’ve not missed any filling station trips at all. . . .

That is a good point.
My last ICE car, could do 600km with one full tank. On average, statistically speaking, it was half empty. So I had, on average, a range of about 300km each morning. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
That is about the same with my EV. Every morning I have about 300km of range.

When I go on a route trip, my ICE had, on average about half a tank of fuel. So I had to refuel it at the beginning of the route trip, to do 600km. That takes about 10min.
My EV can also do +600km of range, if I stop for 10 min charge.
So basically, this "range limitation problem of EV's", is only a real problem beyond 600km.

I only see a big problem for people who cannot charge at home.
