It is, for sure, a matter of appetite for risk - in this case, financial. I am extremely adverse to physical risk (hate rollercoasters, although I ski and drive faster than I should) but, contrary to your definition, I don’t consider myself financially foolish. (Although that would explain my history of cars..)

The point isn’t to convince you this mod is risk-free, but rather that one can’t simple wave around “it’s software, no one understands/anything can be interrelated” as a disclaimer. Some of us do understand software, and probably a lot better than a car manufacturer’s best efforts.
It’s funny you mention roller coaster, we’re headed to Disney World and I’m looking forward to seeing our kids on a real coaster for the first time, if they love’’em like me or it’s a hard pass like mommy.

I have a similar car history, more of a vice than transportation.

I’d love the mod and I’ll be a little envious of those that get it, I just know if Murphy is going to show, it’d be right after I tempt fate.

I look forward to seeing track slips from those upgrading. I can speed vicariously through them.

I have no dog in this fight either way, and no connection to Red Shift or Porsche. Having said that, and based on my prior time on other car forums, can I suggest that discussions about warranty invalidation and worth of a tune be moved to a new thread rather than muddy the posts of a new forum sponsor?

In my experience, the threads a sponsor begins are intended to promote a specific product or service and answer member questions about it, but not to open debates about whether members should use those products or services. To do so in the sponsor's thread seems rude.

This is just my opinion and thanks for your consideration.

Lastly, they’d have to explain why launch control is ok in ‘these’ conditions but not ‘those’.
I believe RS has said they increase it above LC power. As below:
As mentioned previously our tune increases the peak power in overboost over stock AND make that available at all times and not just during launch control. For your Taycan GTS the available peak power will increase from 509hp (590hp in launch control) to over 800+hp all the time.

I am interested once RWD data becomes available but there has to be a material price difference between a RWD tune (which will have very limited power gain other than LC power unlock) vs a CT4, which gets transformed to a GTS level performance, totally different level of gain.

Also i believe people would be interested in “all time LC-only” application without a power increase. Maybe a double price structure with LC power unlock only at a lower price and + power increase at a higher price level. The first option could be a safer bet against warranty arguments too vs i can see porsche making better arguments in the case of increased torque beyond previous max. Just my two cents.

To address the last few replies:
We can adjust the power increase (e.g. leave at stock level) if the customer requests this while enabling overboost at all times. It just hasn't been requested to date.

This does sound like a great product.
My concern would be as much about insurance as well as warranty.

people who’ve done this sort of modification in the past - how do insurers react? Or is it a question of what they don’t know won’t hurt them?

my side thought on it is that my insurance on my CT4S is based on 570bhp ie the bhp that’s provided only when it’s launched. So it’s kind of not fair! If the mod just made in 570bhp all of the time, should that actually make a difference to the insurance premium?

I kind of already know the answer to my question and I know how insurers like to wriggle on claims, but wondering about others experiences who have modified/tuned a car ?

I've had the modification since July 2023. Am I supposed to call my insurance agent and let them know I have more horse power now?

In the UK one of the first questions you’re asked is ‘is the car modified’. So I’d think yes, definitely. Whether anyone actually ever does I guess is a different matter I guess.
I imagine you’d have a very small leg to stand on if the mod only takes you to the launch Bhp. But……

I've always told them. As you noted earlier, they love to wriggle. And there are very, very significant downsides in the UK to this sort of thing being found (through whatever means) after a big accident.

It's hard enough getting insurance cover in the UK without mods. It'd be interesting to see which insurers would cover a car modified like this, and how much it would cost.

I'd love to try one at 800bhp+. But the financial and personal freedom risks are too high.

I’d be happy with permanent launch boost. But I imagine the regular insurers won’t touch it. Maybe specialist broker. Dunno.

Surprised there aren’t any on here touting their wares from time to time.

I use(d) a specialist broker as I have a couple of heavily modified cars (Caterham and Griffith).

They couldn't get anyone to cover the Taycan in standard form, let alone modified.

It would not surprise me in the slightest if there were zero companies in the UK prepared to take it on. At least not without a heinous premium.

I have a 2021 Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S and connected with Mario at RedShift to pick up a modded ASG/ECU. I opted for the backup ECU just in case I need to bring the car into the dealer. By next weekend, I anticipate having the modded ASG installed. I'll provide everyone here with the details including seat of the pants differences and Draggy runs once everything's is set up.

Additionally, I own a 992 Turbo S equipped with a flash, catless downpipes, and BMC filter, running on 93 octane which runs 9s on street tires. I plan to conduct side-by-side comparison runs (992 turbo s modded vs taycan turbo s modded and stock) with before and after videos for reference.

I've already gathered some baseline figures on both cars and will continue to collect some more runs from the Taycan before the mod is installed.

I'll be logging before and after runs at different states of charge (SOCs) for metrics like 0-60 mph, 0-100 mph, 60-130 mph, quarter-mile times with trap speeds, and top speeds. I'll also include metrics like 100-150 mph, 100-200 kph, and 0-100 kph.

Thanks @keithta

It’s a shame Redshift don’t provide simple before and after dyno charts for their tune. I’d be all over it with such compelling proof. Claiming 800+ bhp without dyno evidence doesn't build consumer confidence :(

Very much looking forward to your butt dyno results?
