Hiya; attended my first Tesla charger.
I know it’s on PCS
Used the App to initiate charge but had to register my cc card

I couldn’t see any way to use the Porsche charging service.

wondering what I’m missing? The units have short cords and no screens. Bit of a PITA if I’m honest.

as it happens the rate was 49p per Kw so cheaper than PCS

Are the Tesla chargers on PCS?
I thought you could only use them via the Tesla app if you are not a Tesla.
Not even sure how you use them without blocking 2 bays (unless you are lucky and get an end bay with space outside) in the UK given the Taycan charge port is in the wrong position for the short leads. The Tesla chargers are getting more and more busy so likely lots of agro if you are blocking 2 chargers.
Having been a Tesla driver for over 3 years and seeing the chargers getting busier and busier, I was always critical of other cars using 'our' chargers and couldnt believe anyone would even think of blocking 2 bays. Maybe the Mk4 chargers are laid out better?

tesla chargers are not supported by PCS - they are an alternative charging network - you should only use them if it makes sense vs alternatives

they are what they are an additional
option vs other vendors

We are quite lucky here in Europe with the Tesla Superchargers. The V3 chargers at 250 kW are great to use. They will give you close to 140 kW if you have the 150 kW option in the car.

On our recent trip to Stockholm we have used them a few times. They have many stations with 20+ chargers and they were all mounted on the side.

Todays latest charge was the best though 40 stations with 250 kW power at each and they worked a treat.
Tesla do things very well, the plugs are smaller and lighter than Ionity, the cable is half the diameter and easier to handle, AND most importantly the charging starts and stops in ⅓ of the time of an Ionity charger. Fast connection and very reliable stations.

I might try to use only Open Tesla chargers on the way back from Stockholm to South of France. They can never give as fast charging time, as an optimal Ionity experience, but the difference will be max 10 minutes per charge. Less without the start and stop delays.

In Europe the Tesla network is fantastic to use. Reliable, fast and high uptime.

You SHOULD USE them instead of Porsche Charging Service on Non Ionity chargers as they are cheaper and just work!

Which (location) Tesla charger did you try?
And were these listed on the Porsche PCM satnav ?

I used the Tesla chargers at Ruxley Manor in Sidcup. I assumed they were on PCS because the car sat nav had them.

South london Porsche is v close by but it’s chargers don’t work.

Tesla isn’t on PCS.

Sidcup is an open to non-Tesla site and it’s got decent facilities with the nursery and cafe there. Been before but in a Tesla 😅

Ah, so not every charger option on the PCM is part of PCS network? Out of interest, how would one know?

It’s close to me so will use again but now realise that by charging on the left I remove the adjacent bay.

it’s odd how Porsche put the DC charger on the left when Audi use the right. Do wonder why cars don’t have dual ones

Open the app and filter for sites >= 150 kW

RHD Taycan have the DC combo port on the left. LHD / continental Taycand have the DC port on the right, so generally don’t block Tesla stalls.

V4 Tesla sites with longer cables are a lot better in this respect.

I don’t think we can use Superchargers in the US

Select this option if you want the PCM to "prefer" directing you to chargers on the Porsche Charging Service.

you can use superchargers w/MagicDocks installed - but there are less than 20 sites however with that adapter installed (2 in california) - (10 in New York area) and some limited sites elsewhere…Tesla could deploy more but so far they seem to lack motiviation to make this a universal thing in North America.

And you can’t buy an after market adapter?

no you can't (not yet) - Ford, GM, Mercedes, BMW, Polesart, Rivian, Lucid, Honda, Toyota, etc… other's are providing adapters in 2024/2025 - VW/audi/Porsche so far "no"

but it wouldn't matter anyways - Tesla controls start/stop of charging sessions - so you could onlly charge at Tesla sites where Tesla allows access even if you had a physical adapter…so even if you could plug-in you can't start a session (unless you're at a magicdock enabled site).

this thread will bring you up to speed
