I meant optional NVA doesn't do the braking, it just highlights the obstacle, and standard WBA does the alert sound, symbol and braking.

New car looks amazing and totally agree on all your comments on the updates. Interesting that you were not impressed with the Burmester: have you tried adjusting settings to boost the base?

Electrify America has really improved - it is pretty wild to me that I greatly prefer them to Tesla chargers now.
For me it’s an issue of contention. Around here EA frequently has a line of waiters.

I do like the new “balanced” chargers, so you don’t have to glare at the Bolt driver hogging the 350kW unit for his 50kW charge.

I’m glad to have both as the Tesla chargers help bridge some charging deserts. Overall I agree that it’s better to use EA when we can.

IF your EV can take advantage of 350KW charging AND there's a convenient location AND there's no line of cars waiting, then of course non-Tesla DCFC makes the most sense.

That said, being able to use Superchargers when the above conditions aren't met is a huge benefit, IMO.

So here's a cool finding!

J1.2 seems to have done away with the overly complex "timers and profiles" foolishness and simply has a slider for the desired level.

It still has "departures" if you want to have it set to go at a specific time, analogous to the old timers I guess.

These departures have the ability to set the charging start/stop time, so as before if you want to limit charging to an off-peak window, you have to set up a daily timer.

I find it very annoying you can't set a start time and a charge limit. Not much else is really needed (the preconditioning option, separately, is fine).

Right? Literally two options.

Max charge, and optionally limit from X to Y time.

It’s that simple.

Been doing this on my Teslas for 11 years. This isn't even hard software function... steal the easy, best stuff from your competitors.

So you say that the range is greatly extended in your gen-2 GTS, but then (unless I missed something in this already-long thread) you don't quantify that at all. Please give us some numbers to bolster your improved-range claim.

You sound skeptical.

It has a larger battery. What else do you need to know to back up the claims?

97 kWh usable vs 83.7 kWh.

There are also some objective range tests- https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2025-porsche-taycan-range-test.html

I don't have a J1.1 comparison point, but I charged to 100% on Monday and had an estimated range of 296 in my 2025 GTS

I did post my entire trip/charging log…

The last time I went north up the 5, I had many more stops and on this one I only had one.

I did 240 miles before charging, and still had 12% when I did.
