Taycan security - Advice please

I did think about one of these, but I read a post about thieves just cutting the steering wheel and using the bar to break the steering lock, so quickly decided against it.
I don’t think any electric car has had its steering wheel replaced with a bar. If that was the case then the car probably wouldn’t even work given the electronics and controls like regen etc.

What car are you coming from Mark?
Fortunately security isn't currently a major issue with Taycans. ?

Cctv / security lights always with having though.
I have the ring cameras send alerts to my phone if it detects a person approaching at night.
A few false alarms, but generally it works very well.
I had an X5 Msport 45e. That went back earlier this year. I didn't have comfort access, and won't have it on the new car. I have a Ring doorbell camera, and thinking of install a camera and sensor light. My concerns are due to the value of the car being higher, and so I wanted to improve my security proportionally, if that makes sense....

Sorry I meant using the security bar that you put through the steering wheel, being used as a lever to break the steering lock, rather than removing the steering wheel.

Hopefully it's less of an issue for the Taycan than your X5.
I suggest getting a ring camera (with light) to add to the doorbell.
I think they have 2 - Spotlight and Floodlight Cam?

It can work along with the doorbell (eg turn the light on if the doorbell detects motion etc).

And you can set alerts up......

2 of my cameras alert me if it detects a person overnight.
I've given it a unique notification on my phone, so if I hear it at night, I'm straight onto it.

Nice idea. And nice car. My kids wanted me to go for Mamba Green, but I went for white. Shame they have stopped making that colour now.

Thorough the app, you can always see the current location of the taycan. If it did get stolen, you'd be able to give the police a live location

After locking up at home, I long press the open+close button on the key to deactivate comfort access to prevent relay theft (without needing a tin or faraday bag for the key).

Didn't know comfort had that function. I haven't added that to my spec anyway, but I believe it is in FoD, so could be possible on mine if I wanted to try it.

Just park it up and put key in a faraday/shielded box.

If anyone skilful enough to get your Taycan with is factory security and your keys in a shielded box…….then let them have it, not worth confronting as they will be firmly focused on taking it no matter what confronts them.
Agree, and this is what Insurance is for. If the car is stolen and/or damaged you pay the deductible and get it repaired or get it replaced. No car is worth the risk of getting shot, stabbed or otherwise hurt.

Shhhhh

You'll have comfort access anyway... just not the two buttons in the trunk (open/close and lock/close). At least until one day Porsche decides to cancel it... if ever.

Just disable the key (press lock + unlock for 2 seconds) and you'll be fine. Taycan seems to have higher security than most. I mean... I haven't found another EV that locks the cable to the car port and doesn't let go unless it's unlocked/key is present. Tested with both a Volkswagen and a Renault.
