That was my initial though as well, except that in my case i havent taken delivery of my Taycan yet, and my trusted old A7 isn't quite the same to look at, especially when parked next to some shiny Taycans!Looking forward to some meet pics from Trondheim!
Like others, I really enjoy hearing about your road trips - a great inspiration for our own planning. Hope this one goes well - really looking forward to hearing all about it.Day 1: Dublin (Ireland) -> Cherbourg (France)
In the afternoon, we join the now familiar W.B. Yeats cruise ferry in Dublin Port for the overnight 18-hour crossing to Cherbourg in France. Travelling via what is known in Ireland as "the land bridge" – via the UK and across the Chunnel – would probably be our preferred route but it is still much easier to remain within the EU/EEA area from the perspective of COVID-19 travel rules.
As always, we plug in to the 3kW AC charger on the car deck – ensuring we'll exit the ferry with a full battery. The previous times we've used the charger on the ferry it was free – but now Irish Ferries are adding €15 onto the cost of the ticket if you book it.
A reasonable cost considering the convenience and it comes with the added bonus that they load EVs first onto the ship.
The cabin's on-board are very modern and comfortable.
We leave Dublin on time for the 18 hour crossing to France – expecting to arrive into Cherbourg at 11.30 tomorrow.
Passing Poolbeg Lighthouse as we pull out of Dublin Port and into the Irish Sea.
This being off-peak for Ireland, the ship is very quiet and probably only running to carry cargo.
The days charging stats:
Location Start SOC % End SOC % kWh added Cost Duration Ambient Temp Battery Temp Charger Type Network W.B. Yeats Car Ferry 77% 100% 19.3 €15.00 6 hours 30 mins 9 17 Type 2 Irish Ferries
This is so cool!! Have fun on the trip. I look forward to your next installment. By the way, I too have the Leica Q2, it is my forever camera. Great minds think alike!Day 1: Dublin (Ireland) -> Cherbourg (France)

Good questions. The former, we plan on ABRP then type the route into the Porsche Connect app on phone and send to car's navigation. I've never used carplay navigation – for the reasons you outlined – preparing battery for efficient charging.Great post!
for trip planning: you put your destination in ABRP, tweak it and then you can make a route in the Porsche app on your laptop/phone and send it to the car?
so you have the route planned by ABRP in the the Porsche navigation and not ABRP in CarPlay?
Does the cat recognizes your stops as fast chargers? Or do you still have to enter them as separate stops to have pre heating for fast charging.
Thanks @Eknut – I did look into this, but unfortunately its not available to everyone yet. From the Tesla FAQ:By the way in Norway you can use some Tesla Superchargers that are accessible to non Tesla cars with the Tesla App
