My charts show all of this data and more so not entirely sure what you are seeing here that is different esp the ref to 'single data pts' as both charts contain these? In this case just a different way to display - for ref., my car's mileages/timeline are posted at the top of my chart, his color coded etc. This plot also does not differentiate range variation between winter and summer etc.

For example what's also missing from this chart is what was measured and what was calculated i.e. I'd assume (rightly or wrongly!) that he did not charge to 100% every time so was it to 80 or 85% and 100% range was then calculated as in my chart; are these all AC or a mix of AC and DC charging (I separate mine out in the same chart); also what was the car's mode when reading the predicted range, is this Normal or Range mode max. predictions etc etc.

Not a criticism - just depends on what level of detail you are interested in :)
Agreed. I tried to keep it simple and could have included more detail (even though I'm a detail guy).

Everything is normal mode. It's easy to trick the guess-o-meter by switching to range mode and turning off the A/C or heating. Home charging is AC, and charging away from home is DC.

As shown in my reply to @or1 , I track a couple of other things but not all the detail you do as we don't have four seasons here in the Phoenix area. If I had Spotfire I could...

On a personal note @ciaranob , your zest for detail is excellent and I would have enjoyed working with you if we ever were on a project together!

Yes. A lot of the data comes from my trips from my home in the Phoenix area to Las Vegas. The charge at home is AC and the rest are DC. I take before and after pictures of my dashboard at each charging station. I enter the data into my spreadsheet when I get home.

Note how the guess-o-meter is affected by elevation change. Kingman AZ is 2000 feet higher than my home, so the guess-o-meter thinks I drive more miles than actual when going uphill and less miles than actual when going downhill.
Impressive!

I think both of you add a lot to our understanding of the charging and range behavior. Logging this much manually is not for everyone. Wish there was a way the car would keep and offer these data values!

2021 Turbo S with 4300 miles will show around 250 miles at 100% charge (normal mode with AC on).

Can you clarify as to when you read/have read your range 'guesstomates', what driving mode were/are you in and is the AC on or off? All these factors can add anywhere between 8-20 miles of addition guestimated range!

And yes there are many factors including terrain/elevation, temperature etc that do indeed have a direct impact on the PCM's calculated ranges.

Re spreadsheet, same approach :)

We were typing at the same time :) and I am extreeeemely impressed with your spreadsheet :like:

I take pictures of my dashboard when arriving and departing at a stop. Here are two pictures used for my spreadsheet during the trip from Kingman AZ to my home (map is redacted of course).

Even if I'm driving in range mode on the highways during the cool months (A/C in range mode can't keep up during our hot summers), I always switch to Normal mode to take the pictures. And the A/C is on for most of my data.

Have RWD base Taycan w/ mission E wheels. 220 mile range on full charge is what it shows. I have 4k miles. Always charge on 50 amp home charger. Never used a charging station before (on my list of things to try). We’ve had crazy heat in Houston - 100+ and last week my wall charger shut off because it says it overheated. When I plugged it back in, it showed charging at a rate with just the normal 110, unplugged it for a minute from the wall and it reset to 50 amp charging rate. I usually charge to 100% at home - leave it plugged in until it stops. Prob most of the time

Sounds like you have the standard battery, right? Are you using the standard Porsche EVSE (the charger is in the car, the EVSE is the device that came in the suitcase). They overheat during the summer and there are other threads on this Forum bashing it.

But ... I still use mine all the time. To avoid overheating, I put my Porsche EVSE at 50% which in turn charges my 2022 RWD at 4.4 kW. And I charge during the day while my solar panels are generating 7.6 kW.

Someone could probably create a Grafana plugin that automatically takes readings (SoC and estimated range) via the API a few times a day. Once the data is in Grafana, or any similar service it can be manipulated, charted, analyzed, etc.

Good advice. Yes, I have the standard battery. I didn’t know you could change the setting in the EVSE - I’ll have to look at that. It’s only happened once - but it’s really hot in Houston and I think it happened towards the end of a charge cycle. The only other issue I’ve had with the car is a squeaking passenger seat (which Porsche replaced - took forever) and some squeaking by the dash in between the screen and the dash, which i just stuffed some foam in there and it stopped.

Ha - yeah, called out :), an industry research scientist by background so a bit anal re detail :)!!

The only reason I started the chart was actually to read max. range estimates for both Normal and Range modes with AC off to get to the max. i.e. so that I can back away from these numbers by a preferred % when calculating required stops on long trips.

Also initially (2021-early 2022 and pre-uPdate) there was a significant enough difference between Range and Normal guesstimated max's to make it useful to track but post-uPdate it is essentially a 6-8 mile difference i.e. irrelevant.

Also, again my main reason for posting way back when was that I drive my car exactly how I drove my ICE cars ie.. zero compensation for it being an EV - so driving style, AC on quite literally year round here in Houston, carrying spare wheel and accessories everywhere along with the 'detrimental ' 21" wheels, electric charging port etc etc - I can calculate real world consumptive numbers independently (as I have posted elsewhere along with the guessometer ranges) and bottom-line is that I simply left r'ange anxiety' behind a full year ago now :) Keep tracking for the moment just to get a few seasonal cycles in but will drop it after that!

Fortunately for me, the vast majority of my driving doesn't require a DC charge during any one specific trip and when we have gone on long distance trips across state I've to date literally had zero issues with EA stations - prob won't last, but batting 100 for now!).

PS: Only 2 seasons here in Houston - Hot and Less Hot :)!

I am very impressed by the details you and @ciaranob capture for the statistics.

I do not have such patience or discipline to capture so much data. Interesting summaries as well, thanks!

I have one of the first Turbo S in the US - picked up September 2020. 30,000 miles and today it showed 285 miles range at 100% charge and Normal setting, and on a hot day (88 F). I have not noticed any decrease in range indication, but I don't have a lot of real world long driving data... I have only taken a few long trips, so 95% of my charging is at home, and I charge to 85%.

12,000 mi on a 2021 Turbo S
80% SOC: 189 mi combined city - highway
100% SOC: 230 mi reported (I've never run it below 10 mi left on the range meter)

Bit of a redundant request :)!, but if you can get an OBDII tool reading of your SoH I'd again love to add you to the 47 Forum members that have provided same - really interested in longer term miles cars and TBH, whilst I don't expect any radical departures it would nonetheless be nice to have some longer term hard data points to anchor the trends. Beyond that, there are a lot of useful data you can read on your car's 'health' with this extremely cheap tool and the free CarScanner app.

Cheers, C.
