Let's hope that Porsche brings the PCM changes in the facelift to the current model also. Seems like the boost button, bigger battery and some changes to the body is what's changes. There are also rumors that it will get the same active ride system that is on the new panamera.

This is interesting. It's showing 304 in the car.

Let's wait for actual customer cars to see where this lands.

Lots of ">300kw" press before the taycan launch, and then it was 270 in actuality. And then they updated the software with "200kw if you want to be nice to your battery". (Suggesting that Porsche has data indicating that 270kw for routine charging is harmful enough to the battery that you should avoid it if you don't want a measurable increase in degradation in 2-3 years of ownership)

I just saw that it’s no longer possible to order a Taycan here in Denmark. So either they are adjusting the prices when the macan releases this week or they introduce the facelift soon.

I've no intention of changing my current Taycan for many years, but I'll still be very interested to see what the takeup is of v1.5. The "potential new buyer" pool largely comprises current Taycan owners, many of whom will be unwilling to swap their current Taycan at current low trade-in values, or unwilling to risk another premium EV purchase at this time. Buyers who don't already have a Taycan might well opt to buy a comparative bargain v1 instead. Which leaves those on a lease or PCP ready to change their vehicle- but will the finance be as attractive now that presumably it'll be based on more realistically low residual values?

UK price now announced for Macan EV Turbo at £95k base, with performance stats very similar to current Taycan Turbo, which costs £30k more even before any uplift for the facelift...so I'm thinking that the facelift must be bringing a significant performance upgrade to justify some of the price differential.

yea I agree it’s 60k difference here in the states between the two models. Heck of a price difference for similar performance especially when the Macan has almost 200 more torque. Next iteration must be a huge jump

If prices go up further on the Taycan refresh, I think new sales will completely stall, especially that we now have the much cheaper Macan EV. It’s already a $50k usd delta MSRP here in Poland between Taycan Turbo vs. Macan EV Turbo (without options).

I’ve got a feeling used prices on our 1st gen Taycans are about to really tank.

That's an interesting point, but I don't think straight-line performance is the only criteria. Surely the Taycan will still be the better handling car, with it not being on stilts. That is, the target buyer won't be the same, and if it so happens that someone would choose the Macan, then so be it - the profit margin is likely still huge, so they'll make more overall from a model selling in higher numbers.

For me, personally, the Taycan means an EV wagon - which the Macan is not going to be. I will, however, keep an eye on the corresponding depreciation threads :) and replace our ICE Macan in a few years. (I need to start suggesting build codes on the new forum.. <rubs hands>)

Well, you can't have it both ways. Either new Taycan sales drop (which props up the 2nd hand values), or they don't. I think Porsche has no problem with the Taycan turbo becoming a more exclusive model (and that, no doubt, will pacify a lot of the current customers).

Why can’t it be both? New sales down because of, what appears to be, a pretty similar car that you can pick up for substantially less money. Used prices also down because why would I buy a used older Taycan when I can have a similar new Macan, with better range, or soon used Macan EV, for less?

Don’t get me wrong, I really like my Taycan, but I’m not seeing how it’s so much better than the new Macan to justify that price difference.

It also seems that some of the options we have to pay for on the Taycan are now standard on the EV Macan, on a car that costs less than the Taycan. Folding mirrors and ambient lighting for example...I would expect that these should be standard on the new Taycan...
