Seriously? Betrayed because a company is making progress? What would the non-betrayal version be? Stop all development, keep selling current model until the revenue doesn’t keep the lights on in Zuffenhausen?

Perhaps Porsches should come with warning like "We continue to develop new products. If you want a car that will never be bested by a new version, only buy discontinued models".

I’m very likely to get the 2nd gen Taycan whenever that comes out (not the refresh). I see the refresh as the floor for what the 2nd gen will be. The better the refresh, the higher the floor.?

Why the F would I not want the car to get better? Who thinks like that?

There is no such thing as “typical refresh”. The brief starts with known problems, areas that were underdeveloped for the initial launch and advancements in materials/knowledge/performance analysis. Then one adds market trends, and/or changes dictated by company strategy. On stable technologies/products (like ICE cars), these requirements result in minor change; obviously not the case with new/nascent technologies.

This refresh makes a lot of sense to me. Porsche is obviously all-in on electrification, and the Macan needed to be solid - and worth its price. The Taycan .1 was a low-risk exercise, and is by all accounts a success. (150k units produced.) All learnings from .1 made for a more compelling Macan. The .2, similarly, needed to distance itself from the Macan to keep the profit margin, and also needed to justify its ever-increasing price. It’s no mistake they were announced in such close succession. I think Porsche has the best EV lineup: a capable, fun utility vehicle, and a veritable sports car.

Were this update any less impressive, the Taycan would have quickly become a one-and-done.

So your first line question is very broad. Posche? PCNA? My dealer? Yes I have been treated well. Follow up questionnaires. Dealership follow ups. Loaner car without even asking. And my car was delivered quickly, no stop sale, with no ADM at a time when ADMs were standard.

If you are more interesting in the effect of the refresh then it's still yes. There is enough wrong with the initial version that I would be disappointed if .2 hadn't been a significant improvement. A .2 that was just some cosmetics would be a huge disappointment. The whole point is to constantly improve. I'll probably look for an allocation for .2 in a year or so and expect it to be "obsolete" not long after I buy it. That's progress.

I honestly see it as great progress and applaud Porsche on their effort. No, I will not be ordering one today as my Taycan is barely a year old, so a swap would be not be worth the money to me (worth is always relative "to whom"), but I am genuinely happy that by the time I am ready to swap cars, the new Taycan could be a valid contender (perhaps an even greater leap in 4 years?). Given the speed of improvements from the competition Porsche needs to keep up or risk becoming a flashy trinket only purchased by people who buy them as a status symbol or garage/driveway décor. Then again, if you're buying it just for looks, IMO the original Taycan looks better. If you want a status symbol, you can probably redo the front and back aprons on your Taycan to make it look like the new one, maybe even put on the turbonite badge.

When I buy things, I make a decision based on available information at the time. I never look back, think what could have been, whether someone else can buy the same cheaper today, or buy something better. As long as I believe I made the right decision given information available at the time, I don't regret it. If I could predict the future with high certainty, my electric stable would include the Taycan which I have, a Rimac Nevera, Hummer EV, Rivian T1, Lucid Saphire, MB EQS, Model S Plaid, and have an order in for the new 2025 Taycan and Macan already put in. But, since I cannot predict the future, the 2023 Taycan and 2024 Q8 etron I got is the best decision given my means and information available at the time I bought them. A newer, better Taycan does not take away anything from my experience with my Taycan at all, rather like I said above, it actually gives me hope my next car will also be a Taycan.

Porsche GB haven’t been great - 3 occasions off the road for several weeks due to recall and warranty with NO LOAN CAR and a goodwill gesture of £416 + vat - totally inadequate- any thoughts??

Honestly I now find myself considering buying a second Gen 1 Taycan, used at depreciated prices the new gen will induce, to keep me from going insane from using our e-tron SUV as a daily driver...while waiting for the Cayman EV or Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee to become available.

A 2020 Taycan Turbo with <15k miles, at $75k might be on the near term horizon, which sucks for those who own one (we do), but seems a pretty compelling value proposition - if anything "Porsche" can be considered "value".

- Picking options last year was nice as the SA really helped me and he gave me some brilliant advices
- Delivery was perfect, got a few nice gifts. A 2 hour tour and some follow up calls and mails if everything was perfect
- I ordered the tequipment rear bike carier. There was a shortage but the dealer did everything they could to get me one.
- I did a ceramic coating service at the dealer, was not happy with the result. They solved it by redoing it and lending me a 911 convertible for a weekend
- I joined a dealer organised tour with other customers and did a rally and had a fancy diner
- I got a driving training for free, got some freebies at the dealership and a driver instructor drove with me for 3 hours and learned me the basics of driving fast safely
- They called me for a non-safety recall and planned it in with a Porsche loaner

So really nothing to complain. Depreciation, charging network and a facelift are nothing Porsche specific, so no blame to them.

Only complaint I have/had. Due to chip shortage my car was delivered without a electric steering wheel column. Would have been nice if they just told me. I never had it, so I don’t miss it. But I bought it (was standard in the 4s). I learned on this forum that I got the comfort access FoD for free from Porsche to make it up. Again, they just had to tell me.

Only complaint I have is the high rate of battery failures. Don’t have exact numbers but my had taken a crap and everytime I visit my small dealer on is in the shop being done. This along with the extortionist repair costs. Also really think they underpowered the entire gen 1 range.

Do you feel the Gen 1 should have been the Gen 2 specs and hardware?

I talked to an i4 M50 driver today. He said he avoided the Taycan and the E-Tron GT due to the range.
Anything over 220 is more than enough for me, but it doesn't work for some

You should have been around when the 911 went from the 964 model to the 993. Whew! The 964 buyers were besides themselves when they found out the extensive change from the 964 to the 993 and they had just purchased a 964 at full retail. But........................I never understood it. While the 993 was a great car for its time, the 964 in my mind was not diminished - still a great car, great driver, etc. I think that I full pretty much the same about any changes (now or in the future) to the Taycan, or any car model for that matter. I have had my Taycan for 3 years and still smile when I look at it. And unlike the 964 to 993 cosmetic changes, I highly doubt that few people will see a 2025 Taycan and even know that it has a few small cosmetic changes from the 'original'. But then I am the guy who had a Nokia phone until I made my first Apple purchase...................Apple 6..................
