Hello all!
My free state is rapidly approaching for my Taycan 4Sin crayon!

I was hoping to get your feedback on must have options. I have gone a bit crazy with options and added about $34,000 in options.I would appreciate it if any current owners would reply with the options they feel are must haves and improve the overall driving comfort, performance as well as convenience. Thank you!

My deal breakers (deciding to buy off the rack) were PremiumPackage w/14 way seats, adaptive cruise & power mirrors. Power charge port cover was highly desired (I got it), as was performance battery (didn’t get it).

AdaptiveCruise is the “gateway option” to other FoD driver assistance features if those are important to you.

Popular wisdom is to avoid the 400VDC charger in the US. My car came with the 19.2kW on-board charger which was a bonus for me as I was already set up for 80A charging in my garage; otherwise it will likely be of minimal use to you.

Would’ve added the night vision option if I had ordered because deer.

- performance battery plus
- Air Suspension (for base model)
- Surround view (even if the image is distorted the car is big with small windows and the cameras help)
- 14 or 18-way seats
- LCA
- 25ft cable unless you buy 3rd party charger

Obviously exterior color, wheels, and interior, but these are very personal so, I’ll just state that they should be prioritized and not take a back seat to other options. It doesn’t sound like that’s a problem if you got Crayon/Chalk.

And beyond that, for a 4S, my min requirements would be:
  • Performance Battery Plus
  • Surround View (I agree with @chrisk that the image is weird, but still worth getting)
  • LCA (I prefer the older implementation where the lights were on the inner trim of the mirror; these lights are in the mirror and I don’t like it as much, but I’d still get them)
  • Ventilated Seats (for hotter climates)
  • Bose

Thanks so much! This is very helpful. I’m still not clear on the difference between the 400V DC charger and the on board 19.2kW charger??

400VDC charger upgrades the 400VDC charger from 50kW to 150kW, so if you run across a 400VDC station that’s greater than 50kW, you can charge faster. It’s my understanding that they aren’t common in the US.

The 19.2kWAC charger upgrades the AC charger from 9.6kW to 19.2kW. This would be used at home if you have a larger Level 2 EVSE to use with it or if you run across larger Level 2 EVSEs out in public. I think this is not very common.

I also think the standard AC charger will actually go up to 11kW even though it only says 9.6kW.

Note that those are separate from the 800VDC 270kW charging that is standard.

Excellent! I did not go with the plus battery as, according to my seasoned brand ambassador, it only adds about 30miles of range and does not improve 0-60 time bcos it’s increased horsepower is negated by its extra weight. Your thoughts?

Ok. Now it make sense to me. Thanks for the explanation!

Interestingly, I actually did not know that performance battery plus does not gain any 0-60. However, I heard that PBP gives u a quicker charging time because it takes more power. Correct me if I'm wrong. Additionally, PBP just adds an additional layer of peace of mind that you do not feel range anxiety that often.

Makes sense. I would get the plus had I been purchasing but I am leasing and do not need to worry about resale value. Also, I believe in leasing EVs as the tech changes rapidly.

I think a lot depends on your location, how you intend to use the car and budget! In Australia we do not have packages of options, so the costs can add up very quickly (but we have a higher standard spec - Bose, mirrors, ACC, etc). For me the car is a daily driver, mainly city/motorway driving 20-60km a day and purchased, not leased. Obviously I like your colour choice and for me key options were PB+, full leather and ambient lighting. With chalk/crayon I think you need black window trim and no or black model designation.
