I don’t know if delays are occurring elsewhere in the world, but here in Seattle, my RWD 2025 Taycan is now scheduled to arrive weeks if not months after the original estimated date.

When I ordered the car, on Sept. 27, 2024, the “Porsche Sales & Vehicle Management System” print-out supplied by my dealer (Porsche Bellevue) gave the estimated dates of Oct. 23 for completion, Nov. 9 for shipping, Dec. 19 for arrival in Benecia, Calif., and Dec. 20 for delivery to the dealer.

On Oct. 22 I received pictures of it being manufactured (or purporting to be such pictures, one day ahead of estimated completion. Yet my dealer emailed me on Nov. 4 that “Porsche had to shift some production around at the factory” so that “it looks like we’re shooting for a late January arrival.”

When I responded that it seemed odd that production changes would affect my car, since it apparently had already been completed, the dealer replied, “Porsche hasn’t provided a specific reason for the date adjustments. They have simply moved the estimated dates.” Which didn’t make much sense to me.

The My Porsche app, which ostensibly lets me track my car’s progress, hasn’t updated in weeks. It says manufacturing started Oct. 15, is due to be completed Dec. 2 (seven weeks??), the car is set to ship Dec. 2-4, and it will arrive at my dealer between Jan. 10 and March 2, 2025.

This means a delivery delay of between six weeks (Dec. 20 – Jan. 31) and 10+ weeks (Dec. 20 – March 2) compared to the Sept. 27 estimate.

Hey, stuff happens, and no doubt it’s worth waiting for, but I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing something similar.

P.S. The 19” wheels aren’t at all ugly to me, so no snarky comments please.

first time taking delivery from Porsche? considering yourself lucky if the delay is only weeks, not months.

I think the delay after the car has been manufactured is unusual unless there is a transport or port delay, which does not seem to be the case for you. The dealer would have the most accurate tracking up to the build time, so I would ask them to give you weekly updates as things can shift quickly. My dealer kept me posted as things progressed through the stages and after the car was built the App became more accurate in reporting the milestones.

The delays we experienced during peak demand a few years ago were in getting an allocation (7 months for me from placing the order), then waiting on a build slot (+4 months), and after the car was built, it was delivered 2 months later, so I got my MY2023 in June of 2023.

My date has fluctuated a lot but has settled. Production was fast and finished ahead of scheduled. The longest part was that it sat at Emden port for a full month.

I ordered back in June, production started September 20 and finished October 1. Was at Emden on October 4. Left Emden on November 8 and is almost in the middle of the Atlantic. Vessel tracker says ETA for Panama is November 20. Benicia at around December 20 and my SA says it should be at the dealer just by Christmas time which is a month early from what Porsche originally said. I have a feeling it might be sooner but we'll see if there are any more delays at the Benicia port.

Good info @someTimesJoe, with the timeline typical of delivery to the US West Coast from 2 years ago. I am surprised that the cars still sit at Emden waiting for a ship for over a month.

One thing I would caution about is to inspect the car on delivery carefully as mine had damage by the delivery crews as they had to jump the 12V battery breaking clips of the frunk cover, slicing driver door rubber seal, and damaging some leather getting to the fuse panel. I think the algorithm of keeping 12V healthy over a long period of time may have changed but if 12V battery dies before the car is delivered the jump procedure is very invasive for someone who does not care to perform it without damaging something in the process.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, and myself… on Sep 26 I ordered a 25 RWD sedan which is said to be delivered ”early Dec”, that’s just 3 weeks away. I tried to change to the newly released “4” but was refused as it is about to be manufactured very soon - understandable.. but then I will go bonkers if the will push the delivery with a couple months, as in your case. If that happens they should at least let me do my upgrade…

Queation: how do you guys follow the progress of your Porsche? I expected to get some updates, perhaps some Welcome to the world of Porsche emails, get ready and download this app, status, pics from the factory etc, but nothing! Not a single email. Even Volvo made me feel more VIP between ordering to the delivery.

And it is worth remembering that initial sales of Taycan back in 2020/21 was about 2x what they have originally planned and expected.

Those days with no Taycans in sight anywhere to see or test drive...

Now, my dealer lot now is full of Taycans and I even asked them to drive a brand new 2024 as a loaner while my wife's Macan is for some warranty work, and they said sure.

I use the My Porsche app to track since they won’t let you anymore on the website. Emails are really minimal and only on every phase milestone. If you have the commission ID, stick that into the app to track phases and status.

I ordered my Taycan ST turbo on june 12, got it delivered today. Right on schedule.
Once in production, things should move at a predictable pace. My dealer send me copies of internal schedules like this:

You need to pray that the ship carrying your Porsche to the new world does not catch fire and sink!..that would REALLY delay things...

I placed my order at a dealer in Atlanta on June 30, 2024. They told me there was a slot available for November delivery. The car was manufactured around September 20. Then I had to wait until it was shipped to the port and then the long trip I boat to the Jacksonville Port. It arrived in Jacksonville last week today I received a message that it was on a one day trip to my dealer in Atlanta. I expect the car to be ready for pick up on Monday or Tuesday, November 18 or 19. This is exactly in line with the dates I found in the Porsche app. There were no unusual delays other than I hoped it would be transported to the dealer five or six days ago. Lastly, I love your color since I also ordered Neptune blue. However, mine will have mission E wheels. Hopefully, I will post more Information after I’ve had a chance to drive the car. I know how it feels to wait for the car so just have patience. By the way, my car is RWD with four-wheel steering. I know they just released a model four for only a little more money. If I had the chance I would’ve ordered the model four.

I ordered mine on June 12th too, first the dealer said 3-4 months (so Sept-October) and then the delays started. Supposed reason: missing parts. Latest status is that it should be ready next Monday (18th) and then shipped. Let's see...

I would think it might be easier to predict when something will get from Germany to Belgium than it is for a Seattle destination. The Panama Canal can get crowded. I was in roughly OP's position a little over one year ago. Production was completed around the end of October, I just found out about it before flying back from Japan. I was sitting here unsure whether it is day or night thanks to jetlag, as I am now. Everything was on schedule for delivery at the end of November. Without anything in the way of detailed explanation, that ended up slipping by a month and actual handover date was right before the end of the year.
