Hi guys, I ordered a MY22 RWD Taycan at the beginning of July. I still have a few weeks left before the change freeze point. Wanted to ask if anyone has driven the RWD version with both batteries ? I know there's a 54HP difference. Mt question is, is the power noticeable between the 79 and 93kwh battery ? Debating on whether I should add the 93kw battery or not. Thanks guys.

I have 4S with PB. I did drive a 4S with SB and personally did not notice any real difference in performance at legal speeds. For me the issue was more concern about range, as first electric car. After 3 months with mainly city and motorway/freeway driving and home charging, much less concerned about range. Your circumstances may be very different? Dealers seem to think PB important for re-sale, if that is a concern. I still hope to do some longer trips, so would likely still order PB and enjoy the extra performance benefit that it come with (but in all honesty I have not noticed!).

Aside from performance (which you may not notice) the range is surely a more important consideration - If budget permits, tick the box.

Go for the bigger battery, not for the horsepower but for the range.

increased range is worth the 5 grand IMHO. I’m on the hunt for a stock vehicle. In my area the entirety of what is left is non-PB cars.

With PB you are only talking about 30ish extra miles. The extra HP is to make up for the added battery weight. Save your money.

I have the 79kw battery on my rwd, driven rwd's with both batterys, def the standard battery model feels more nimble,i know the plus battery has a power advantage, but is also a fair bit heavier, could feel a touch more lurch and heave with the 93kw,and the steering is def calibrated different, seems more direct in the lighter 79kw.If you dont need the extra 30/35 miles of range the plus battery has,,the performance of both models is all but identical to around 80mph,plenty quick enough, and allthough i was odering from scratch, the salesman didnt try desperately to sell me the plus battery, quite the opposite, said that the lightest, purist taycan is the sleeper of the range in his,and others in the dealership opinion, after driving both,i whole heartedly agreed, thats why i ordered one! If you need the extra range go 93,if you want a bit more fun,go 79,after all, which 911 is in many peoples, including porsche's eyes the most highly rated, the boggo carrera...footnote.charged to 85% im getting 240 mie range, and i dont drive like miss daisy. What a fantastic car.

agree...you pay 5K to get more range but add weight...I have the smaller battery and have seen as much as 265 miles of range...more than enough in my real world where I gotta stop for pee breaks anyway!

Maybe. If your Taycan is a fun extra car, you are absolutely right. If it is your daily driver, the range difference between 265 and 300 miles may be very relevant. Depends on every individual's commute situation, of course.

Could also make the opposite argument, right? As a DD, who really needs 300 miles? BUT if it's a fun extra car, you might want the bigger battery for road trips or if you like to keep the pedal pressed against the firewall.

I will add that both versions of the taycan rwd are awesome cars, and that the difference in dynamics is small, but in my book noticeable if you drive both versions back to back like i did within the hour.Weight is the biggest burden of any car, whether its ev or petrol,.Also people say you need the performance battery plus for resale, yes i agree,it does hold its value better, but by the time you discount the extra cost involved, the difference is not that big.Horses for courses. There are faster taycans, quicker teslas etc,but in 99% of daily driving,do you actually need more 'GO' just a very few years ago,the basic taycan would have been classed as a supercar, its a fantastic car,and a proper porsche.I love it.

It would also be interesting to see some back to back performance figures for similarly specced cars for each battery too imo.
