How did you contact Porsche Germany for this? I'm in the same boat as you with a new born who only is ok with driving in this car and cries his heart out in any other cars. I was given 1 timeline of 2 months for the part to arrive directly from Germany and today they promised me a Panamera loaner.

Does anyone know what part should be replaced?
is this it? https://www.pacificmotors.com/auto-...c-heater-exchanger-9j1963507e-porsche-taycan/

If that's the part I kinda feel like I should buy one to keep on hand to reduce my service time when it inevitably fails

The service report on my heater repair in early Dec 2022 says replaced heater PAD963507. Same part number as on this TSB.

Broken heater means Taycan does not meet US auto safety standard for windshield defrosting and defogging. Please report this visibility safety defect to NHTSA. Very few NHTSA complaints on this for Taycans to date.

Yeah sure, I've reported it to NHTSA.
I'm wondering since this component seems to be available on multiple US-based OEM shops, why my dealer has to get it from Germany directly.

My dealer got the part overnight. Doubt it was shipped to them from Germany.

The TSB says only 57 vehicles? It sure seems to be going around a lot more frequently than that.
Yes, and it also says 2020-2021. My 2022 4S would disagree. And I think I just read someone in here has 2023 with no heat.
Also notice that the TSB says nothing about inoperative defrosting and defogging, the safety defects (in US).

Small update to my heater issue.

Dealer has had my car since 12/27.
Did not look at it until 1/9.
Confirmed heater failure and is waiting on porsche Germany to "release"(approve) the repair and part.
No timeline or availability of the part has been provided yet though.

I have been in a rental car ( Chrysler 300) for a week. Porsche corporate has offered to reimburse the rental cost.
The dealer will have a loaner car for me on 1/14 and I get to return this POS rental and get into a lesser POS base macan for an unknown amount of time.

Got rid of my rental Chrysler 300 on Saturday, and picked up a loaner Macan from the servicing dealer.

Latest status is waiting on porsche HQ to find a replacement heater. Request is in with porsche HQ that I need one, but they are unable to locate any. Seems I am on a list to be sent one once it's manufactured.

As of tomorow, my car will be broken for 26 days, in the shop for 22 days, and no eta is provided.

I just picked up mine, dropped Jan 3rd
Kind of frustrating. i know its first come first serve for parts, and I know my dealer didn't even diagnose my car until 1/10. I just hope they didn't sit on diagnosing for soo long that they missed readily available parts.

Follow up

The car was unusable since the defroster wasn't working. Any trip longer than 5 minutes caused the glass to fog up.

Only way to clear the window was to put the "defroster" on full blast , which of course just blew outside air into the cabin, making it even colder, but made the glass clear for a couple minutes.

I dropped the car at my local dealership, without an appointment. They didn't want to take it, but I refused to leave with it. Said the soonest they'll get to look at it is sometime next week. As usual, their "taycan specialist" is overbooked.

I'm waiting on porsche corporate to return a call, as the lack of loaner and repair timeframe is unacceptable.
Ideally I think they should get me a rental until a loaner is available. And i also feel they should pay for a month of the loan, if the car is out of service for more than 30 days. Exception to this would be if they put me in a similar car. Giving me a base macan loaner and expecting me to also buy gas is not what I signed up for when purchasing my car.

When I had my audi(previous car), the dealer would call the local car rental company and get a rental. No reason why porsche can't do similar if out of loaners.
thats what happen here in the UK. Porsche Assist leave you with a rental they hire (its not of equal standard) so you're not without a car. Its a joke you don't get a car when its a clear safety issue. This was mine when driving before it went in and nothing - not even opening the windows helped.

Just to update, car was fixed and picked up today.

Lemon case is open. 31 days for this repair, plus 8 days for previous warrenty repairs.

Down for over 1 month when I've only owned the car for 8 months is not reasonable.

How long did it take Porsche corporate to respond in to reimbursing the rental cost? They opened a case for me and I’m waiting to hear back from them.
