there are several very reasonable "options" in the Taycan options list - that if you think about it are really almost cheap/no-brainer's - it is my honest opinion that when optioning a 6-figure vehicle base price attempting to save money by skipping any of these options is simply not embracing what is going on here with this purchase…

Power Folding Exterior Mirrors - $330
Under Door Puddle Light Projectors - $330
Porsche Electric Sports Sound - $500
Black Brake Calipers - $900
Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass - $1,130
Ionizer - $350
Rear 2+1 Seats - $480
Smoking Package - $0 (even if you never plan to use it)
Power Charge Port Cover - $640
On-Board 150 kW/400V DC Charger - $460
25ft Charging Cable - $0

$5,120 well spent in my humble opinion and honestly against the rest of the car price and other options pretty inconsequential.

from my list the 3 MUST haves are:

  • Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass - if like a quiet car that just glides down the road this pays dividends every time you're in the car
  • Power Charge Port Cover - auto close as you walk away after unplugging is very satisfying
  • 25ft charge cable for $0 - deal of the century by Porsche standards.

My must haves are:

• Every safety option
• Every lighting option
• Everything my wife wants

If you buy the smoking package (which literally is just a removable ash tray) after the fact it is $84 from Porsche  Makes a great paperclip holder, I have one on my desk actually.

I've heard rumor that the 25ft cable is upwards of $2,000 if you wanted to order it after your car came in...

Couldn't agree with you more on these!

My spec list is of course my must-have, except for the painted mirrors, I chose those out of vanity.

By MSRP I just mean the price that you build the vehicle out to, the retail price or the price on the window sticker of the car.

I would think for sure if you're placing 2 orders with a dealer you should be able to get a few things from them, here is what I'd ask for:

1. Throw in the Porsche Scheduled Maintanence Plan (PSMP) +1 package. This will cover your first service at Year 2 or 20,000 miles.

2. All Weather Mats and Trunk/Frunk Cargo Liner. Really nice to have in the car, especially if you're going to be using it daily.

3. Window Tint. If you like the look of window tint, I'd see if they could do this to all the windows for you.

4. Porsche Accessories. Hat, Keychains, Mugs, get yourself decked out with some goodies.

5. You could try for the Porsche Wheel and Tire Protection (Alloy Protection) but in my honest opinion it's a rather expensive ask. You might be able to get it compensated on one of the cars, but not the other.

One thing I always tell my friends and family when going through the car purchase experience is to at least ask. The worst you'll get is a NO, but sometimes you'll be surprised.

Hope this helps! Congrats on the new orders, you're going to love them.
Some feedback on this.. went to spec my car this morning in Bolton, UK and the best I could get from him was "You can have either a boot liner or the painted key each let me know which you would prefer".

Went through the first four points with him and they went like this..

1. He's never heard of this package! Must be a US thing?

2. See first paragraph. Choice between single bootliner or painted key.

3. Apparently they don't do any window tinting in their dealership. In the UK he said it's illegal to have driver/passenger/front windows tinted at all. People do it, but they could get pulled over. So, I'm wondering whether anyone on this forums from the UK have done this and whether they've gotten into any bother?

4. See first paragraph. Choice between single bootliner or painted key.

5. The first #1-4 went so badly, I felt embarrassed to even try to ask for this :CWL:

Seems like UK Dealers are much tighter than US dealers!

I am actually glad to hear this as I would have felt I missed out :) and yes legally front windows cannot be tinted in the UK but I think it is a little like people messing around with the spacing of letters on a private plate, if the police want to pull you over for it they will but its probably more likely they will add it to the list of infractions for more serious traffic offences - for which they have to pull you over for - but that's just my opinion...

Hi,

My 4S build is in, but still have time to make changes (unfortunately). Main options are: Taycan exclusive wheels in black, performance package, power mirrors, high gloss black mirrors and window trim, sport chrono, innodrive, 150KW charger.

I have been swayed to add RWS.
I’m debating adding passenger display. On the fence but definitely get it if there’s a chance my passenger can watch video during the drive.

I’m also reading here that people really like thermal and noise insulated glass. I’m not concerned with noise much in an electric car, but I’d be interested if the glass rejects heat like a tint would? My understanding is the Taycan already has thermal glass protection. If you still need a tint, I think I will pass on this option.

The other option I am interested in is 18-way seats. Is this possible without full leather package? I can’t seem to configure it with the standard interior.

What do people do for closing their garage. Every time I back out, the surround view is shown and I can’t get to the home link screen without closing out the surround view.

I have 18 way adaptive seats and the standard interior on mine.

Add a favourite button to the dash or steering wheel. I have my homelink on the curved screen diamond and next track on the steering wheel.
I have programmed the diamond button but I still need to close out the surround view after backing out of the garage. Also, how do you program the next track on the steering wheel.

I got the following options in US:
Dolomite silver
14 way seats with ventilation
folding mirrors
25 foot charging cord
rear axle steering
adaptive cruise control & Innodrive
panoramic roof ( forced option ) but only the panoramic roof will take the roof rack
larger battery ( forced option )
park assist & surround view
150 KW charger
lane change assist
steering wheel heating ( forced option with 14 way seats )
range manager
tire sealer & compressor
all season tires
mobile charger connect ( forced option )

I wished I had spec'd the "electric" door badges as they are $0 when ordered, else $150 a pair

What do you guys mean without full leather? I dint think in the uk there was options for partial leather. In fact I wouldn’t ever want a seat that isn’t all covered in leather. Any pics of the us partial leather?
