Problem: PCM loses all audio and volume cannot be adjusted.
Workaround: Reboot the PCM by holding 2 fingers on the clock, then exit engineering mode.

This one is starting to happen to me A LOT and it's extremely annoying.

Next time do not reset it. Drive to the dealer while there is no audio to convince them it does not work.
You probably need a new PCM.

Ugh. No. That is killing ants with a hammer and I don't want the dealership tearing the car apart.

Since reboot fixes it, it's a software issue.

…maybe; but it could be a software issue triggered by a hardware component or connection. And if that’s the case, there may not be a fix coming.

As an example, I had a drive on an Ethernet network that would lose comms due to a bad RJ45 connection and would not re-establish comms until power was cycled. Requiring a power cycle to re-establish comms was a software (or firmware) issue for sure, but changing the RJ45 connection fixed it (and it needed to be changed anyway).

I haven’t seen the issue so I can’t really comment further, not that seeing it is likely inform me of much.

Corrupted flash drive or memory sectors is another example of a hardware issue that is temporarily resolved by a reboot. The memory is cleared at reboot and the system works ok until it reaches again the corrupted sectors.

Some of those symptoms occur for me when there are updates downloading or pending install. Recently the PCM would not function more than a minute or so after reboot, until I discovered that automatic updates was somehow disabled. Others have posted that the volume stuck at -1 seems to coincide with update installs in progress.

This has happened to me twice so far. Volume gets stuck at -1, and it’s right after or during an update. It goes away with the two finger reset, or simply leaving the car locked for about 15 min. It’s annoying for sure.

Happens to me a lot. I just choose another source or medium and typically starts working again after a few minutes. Also noticed it happens when i adjust the volume while the PCM is sort of booting up when I start the car.

I have exactly this issue. Feels like software to me.

Same here, every time I turn the car on, the SIRUS goes to the preview channel, and I get a message saying "your subscription has been changed". I have to press ok and change the channel by Voice Com to the one I want it. Annoying but I gave up after spending at least 2 hours with SIRUS tech folks who have no clue and 2 attempts with the dealer, who also know nothing about fixing this issue. BTW this diamond programing TRICK, won't fix anything and PCM 2 fingers reboot thing won't fix it either. However, I just tried a new trick to disable car notification especially "data connection" which will turn off "display all" , while I kept all other notifications and so far this annoying message from SIRUS subscriptions is gone! I'm not sure if this trick will last and succeed in terminating this message from SIRUS XM or not. Time will tell!

this usually only happens with Apple Music, Volume is fixed or at minus 1 and cannot be adjusted.
Simple fix is going to (DAB) Radio, change volumne and go back to Apple Music.

I get it with Bluetooth radio (since there is no support for Android Auto). If I change the source to radio and then go back to Bluetooth, it resolves but it is a pain to do on a regular basis. Hoping for an OTA fix at some point.
