Thanks.

What if I want it to start charging AFTER 11pm only to take advantage of the off-peak rates ?
The timer will start based on the departure time. E.g, if it need an hour to charge, it will start an hour before that time.

It will only start before 11 if it needs to charge for more than 6.5 hours.

There are no setting to prevent it from charging outside of your window if it is required to for the requested ending state of charge.

Actually, maybe a 2nd timer at 11pm set to 25%. That might do it. I’ve never tested. Will try today. But if it works, it won’t be at the desired state of charge at the 5:30am departure time.

Note that the car will ALWAYS charge to at least 25% immediately when plugged in. There are no settings to prevent this.

If your SoC is not too low and your charger powerful enough it will not need more than 7 hours to charge. It will start charging to have it ready at 6 am. That’s how I do it. Off peak in my region starts at 21 pm. Even if it would start charging begore this window it would only be for a short time. And I presume you want it charged to 80 anyway when you leave.

Thanks for the help.

So keep the timer and turn off the profile?
Does the timer automatically do the optimized charging then?

Maybe i can set a schedule in my charger?

It is possible that if your set your charger to be inactive before 11 pm the car will detect is as a charger fault because it is plugged in but not charging. I don’t know what will happen when it is activated after 11 pm. I have had this once I think and needed to unplug and plug to solve this.

anyway I would just set the timer to 80% at your departure time. Even if it starts chargign before 11 pm it will be for a short time. Because it will only start charging to have it charged at the set departure time. If it did start charging before 11pm it would mean it could not reach your set SoC between 11pm and 6 am and you need to charge out of your window anyway.

our cheap electricity rate is between 21pm and 6 am. That is why I have set my departure time at 6 (without preconditioning) even though I leave at 7h15.

This is what happens with my settings. I have set the power of my charger very low (4,5 Kw) because starting in 2023 we will also be billed on generated peaks. So I want it to charge as slow as possible and be ready before the cheap rate end. This day it was still 10 Kw. I can have 22 max.

@diegomedinaf

What kW EVSE are you using? At 9.6kW, it would not start charging before 11pm for the timer regardless of your starting SoC, except for the 25% min it will charge to immediately. See graph below.

Car charges to 25% immediately and then waits until 12:24 to start charging the rest of the way to get to 80% at 5:30.

Charger is called Wallbox and its a 48A charger.
I’ve seen pushing 10.+ so it will charge even quicker and should start after 11pm as long as I am above 25% ?

Yes, car will max out at 11kW, which is a little under the 48A, but then it wouldn't start until around 1:00am.
