I'd just like to ask other Porsche owners worldwide her on the forum, does your Porsche Center hold back on you regarding documentation of work done to your vehicle?

I had a lot of cars during my lifetime (BMW, MB, Volvo, Tesla, etc) and all workshops I was in acquaintance with gave me a paper to document what had been done to my car. Whether if it´s guarantee repair I didn't have to pay for, my own ordered repairs, self-made damages, or normal service work on the car. That’s only obvious and expected kind of self-explanatory. By nature, I like to keep track of my papers, and have things in the right order for later documentation and register.

That's not the case with Porsche I just experienced. They told me that any work guarantee work done and without cost for the customer, is their property which shall and will held back. They even claimed to have been instructed by this from Porsche head office in Germany. I find that rather intimidating, as I feel that documentation for work done on my vehicle also is my property. Now I´m told it’s not of my choosing and doesn´t belong to me.

I can't see any legal cause for helping this back, as I already paid for the car. I was told to contact a lawyer if I disagreed, so I took them by their word and contacted my lawyer for a legal advice. I got confirmed by my attorney that I do have the right to own documentation on my own property, and was further advised to contact them by in writing to see if my workshop stand firm in their position. Before I do so, I´d like to hear you guys’ opinion.

Do not misunderstand me, I love my Taycan even though it has some faults that need to be fixed. I don´t have any plan of letting the car go or deliver it back. To make this clear, I still feel confident that these issues will be rectified to my satisfaction. Also, I do appreciate the good service from my home Porsche Center. However, this attitude with holding back wanted information and documentation do make me a little concerned. Right now, it sure does not make me feel good and only creates suspicion.

If I don't have the documentation on what done to my vehicle under rapair, how can I then prove when something goes wrong and who's responsible. I don't want to escalate a problem which isn't there or ruin the good dialogue we have built up, so I behave politely and calmly as usual. But to be honest, I really became annoyed about it thus more I think about it. This sure does not create a relationship of trust that I wished and had hoped for.

Any thoughts, and how does your Porsche Centers handle such?

I also wonder why I never get any documents about work done on my car. I haven't asked why tho. I do know Porsche has a complete (electronic) dossier about every car, because all work done has to be registered in Porsche systems. For guarantee work it's the base for reimbursement of the PC.

Next time I am at the PC again, I'll ask, see what comes up

Thanks!

We also own a Tesla Model S, and after each visit to them I still get rough confirmation of what has been done or what remains. Holding back documentation is not an issue by them, least not how I experienced so far.

On this forum I register US residents that they in some cases get documentation and feedback what's done to their vehicle. I think I will write Porsche head office in Germany, to make it clear how the law works in the country where you bought the car.

I think such an attitude Porsche now takes is detrimental to a fruitful customer relationship.

I actually demanded the papers after the suspension broke outside hemsedal. They said they'd give me it once everything is done (still waiting for a new door panel as they had lightly dinged the neodyme trim and you can't take it off alone - weird design, but ok). I also told them to go ahead and reorder the car if there's a single new problem, so they know they're about to lose a customer. Think second car will be an Etron gt. Scared of ordering another Taycan.

Will definitely report back around next week or so.

Must be an EU thing. If a dealer stateside tried that bizarre rationalization, I’d have a hissy fit!

I’ve always received documentation on work performed, warranty or paid.

I just went to the dealer in San Francisco, and they tried to solve an issue with the the SIRUS radio and they were not able to solve it and the SA calmed that there system is down and they can't give me any paperwork of what was done!! I got the car back and the issue was not resolved, so I thought that is most likely why they didn't give me any docs for what they did, especially they did nothing!! I didn't know until I read this message that this has been going on with all Porsche. This is illegal and we have the right, to own a proof of what was done in our cars.

It does not happen with "all Porsche." I've never had a service call with my dealership (across several Porsches and several years) where I did not get the summary of the work done.

Same issue. When they can’t fix it they are ordered not to give paperwork. I was told the car “didn’t have an issue and was safe” and it was not.
I think Porsche is in cya mode with the number of failures with the taycan right now and heading into darker territory.
