I'd just like to ask other Porsche owners worldwide her on the forum, does your Porsche Center hold back on you regarding documentation of work done to your vehicle?
I had a lot of cars during my lifetime (BMW, MB, Volvo, Tesla, etc) and all workshops I was in acquaintance with gave me a paper to document what had been done to my car. Whether if it´s guarantee repair I didn't have to pay for, my own ordered repairs, self-made damages, or normal service work on the car. That’s only obvious and expected kind of self-explanatory. By nature, I like to keep track of my papers, and have things in the right order for later documentation and register.
That's not the case with Porsche I just experienced. They told me that any work guarantee work done and without cost for the customer, is their property which shall and will held back. They even claimed to have been instructed by this from Porsche head office in Germany. I find that rather intimidating, as I feel that documentation for work done on my vehicle also is my property. Now I´m told it’s not of my choosing and doesn´t belong to me.
I can't see any legal cause for helping this back, as I already paid for the car. I was told to contact a lawyer if I disagreed, so I took them by their word and contacted my lawyer for a legal advice. I got confirmed by my attorney that I do have the right to own documentation on my own property, and was further advised to contact them by in writing to see if my workshop stand firm in their position. Before I do so, I´d like to hear you guys’ opinion.
Do not misunderstand me, I love my Taycan even though it has some faults that need to be fixed. I don´t have any plan of letting the car go or deliver it back. To make this clear, I still feel confident that these issues will be rectified to my satisfaction. Also, I do appreciate the good service from my home Porsche Center. However, this attitude with holding back wanted information and documentation do make me a little concerned. Right now, it sure does not make me feel good and only creates suspicion.
If I don't have the documentation on what done to my vehicle under rapair, how can I then prove when something goes wrong and who's responsible. I don't want to escalate a problem which isn't there or ruin the good dialogue we have built up, so I behave politely and calmly as usual. But to be honest, I really became annoyed about it thus more I think about it. This sure does not create a relationship of trust that I wished and had hoped for.
Any thoughts, and how does your Porsche Centers handle such?
