I left the car for an issue with the 360° cameras: they would stop working randomly, start again, one of them, all of them, etc.

I told them if they could look for the WTG1 recall campaign: they couldn't find it in their system. Too bad...

Got it back today: they changed some cables, and cameras are working fine (so far...). Told them again about the WTG1, same answer, no, not scheduled for you :(

I get into the car, leave from dealer, go to NAV and .... it looks different ! Can select networks, power, etc... go to the version number of the PCM and it shows now 3892  I then played with it a bit, no crashing issue

I assume the car felt home, talked to her sisters/brothers there and one of them shared its PCM version 😇

Magic... 🧙‍♂️

I assume the guy you were talking to was a sales guy, not a service guy. Hence he was clueless.

WTG1 is a symptom based service campaign, not a recall, so maybe that's why he couldn't find it.

Good you got it done without having to provide proof :D

it was the service guy. Indeed, he told me it would be good to have a video....

may be (?) they now update the PCM by default when a Gen1 goes for service / warranty / repair.

It's often one of the first things they try when dealing with any software related issue. I have had mine updated a couple of times.

Nice that you got it. Generally this version seems to be the most stable I have had in the 3 years of ownership.

I dropped my Taycan off at Porsche Mechelin this morning, on arrival the service receptionist said they need a video to be able to claim the WTG1 under warranty and without it they'd need to charge me. I said, in no uncertain terms, that was not happening, and asked why they hadn't made this requirement clear before booking me in - I booked it in May FFS. She called their lead service chap and he said they'd try to take the car out and make the video themselves.

The range went down just before the car went into private mode a couple of hours ago so I presume they managed...

So you can get to experience the premium german brand treatment ;)

In switzerland they require proof for ANY defect on the taycan before they even book me in; that's how much they value the taycan customers :D

I still can't get them to fix my passanger window sometimes refusing to go up, as it never happens when i can actually record it on my phone, and they won't even look at it without a video :D

They did the update in the end, but I agree with you on the treatment - this is not the way a premium brand should treat its customers.

Interestingly I tried to book mine in this morning but they said that Fix1 is not working for everyone and Porsche Germany is now preparing a new fix and they would put me on the list for that when it comes out as fix1 is no longer being used - they said this was a very recent instruction from Porsche Germany.

Any ideas (anyone) what is 'not working' in WTG1? Anyone bad experience with WTG1?....so that we can all keep an eye on it...

Conversely, I took mine in for a rattle and WTG1.

they said they reproduced the problem and did the update, as well as fixing the rattle. Happy days.

except the nav crashed on the way home, they haven’t updated the PCM at all. Liars.

Both Porsche centres I’ve had dealings with have been piss poor.

Had it installed today.

Can't say as I noticed much of a difference in speed or anything, though will see when I do a longer journey.

Like the ability to add preferred/exclude non-preferred (ie you can do it either way - sensible from a user perspective).

One question for UK users...GridServe. Seems to be missing from the lists?

Also, I set the "preferred" ones in the settings menu for nav. Then saw the filter button on the nav screen itself. Clicking it, it hadn't brought through the settings from nav settings.

Anyone else noticed either of these two things?

(I still think Porsche are missing a massive trick not upgrading to the J1.2 software fully. Even if it was at a small charge).

Yeah, the app and its preferred partners doesn’t seem to be reflected in the pcm nav, it’s odd but I just have the app preferred partner preferences off and set filtering via the pcm nav itself. In my case keeping very simple - charging power => 150kwh and select all networks.

You’re right Gridserve isn’t on the list if you scroll through the list of networks, but their sites are shown on the map - assuming you have the “show charging stations on the map” option ticked.

All part of the fun of our software!

While it was there, I mentioned the issues I've been having with the PCM and navigation and asked whether they could update it to software version 3892. The service advisor gave me a quote of around €480+ for the update.

I also mentioned that I had read about the WTG1 campaign, but he checked and said it wasn't assigned to my car. Based on that, I told them to proceed with the brake fluid service only and skip the PCM update if it was going to be a paid job.

When I collected the car, I was surprised to find that the PCM had been updated to v3892 after all. The paperwork lists WTG1, and I wasn't charged anything for the update.

A bit bizarre, but I'm certainly not complaining but it's kind of tricky to request what supposed to be FoC for all customers.

I've done about 1500 miles around the UK and Europe since having the update installed and it's been fine so far.

The charge planning is somewhat infuriating however. Example: Driving from Le Mans back to Calais, I chose Porsche Rouen as a stopover, because there's a fast charger there and I'd be down to about 15% charge when I got there. Despite selecting it as a charging stop in the route planner, the car decides that, actually, I should stop at Porsche Rouen and charge for 1min, then drive 15 minutes down the road to a Shell charger (which isn't even a partner provider!) to recharge the car fully. ?!?! This is despite having the Porsche charging service priority set in the nav... This happened several times when trying to mix manually chosen charging stops with dynamically planned stops.

I was obviously able to work around this but, due to the issue described here ( #26 ), my careful route planning in the phone app had to be disregarded and I spent a frustrating 10 minutes adding stops to the PCM one by one.

But at least it doesn't crash any more.
