Tesla Model S, GTS ST on order
Country flag
After just over a 12 month wait I've finally had the call from my dealer to come in and spec my sport turismo. 12 months is a long time to tinker with the configuration and with so many options I wanted to get feedback on the spec from you lucky people who've already taken delivery. Have I specced something you did and thought it was a waste or have I missed something that you have on yours that you couldn't live without? I've specced the 22kw charger as I currently have a Tesla type 2 charge point at the office wired up for three phase.

Out of the box I'm hugely on the fence on two things. First, standard black leather with carbon trims or the racetex GTS interior pack. The racetex is beautiful but with unsure how practical it my be in the long run? I'm also making the assumption that the GTS interior would really be an expected pre-requisite for a GTS when it comes to sell it on?

The second one would be the 4+1 seating, from a practicality perspective it's a no brainer but it's hugely irking to have the sport seat design for the front seats and then with the 4+1 the rear bench has the standard comfort seat stitch pattern. I very rarely would need the third seat in the back. Again thinking from a resale perspective how many of you would be put off not having the third seat?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Congratulation for the allocation ;)

One thing i would consider is rear wheels steering. Taycan and Model S are more or less the same size so you are used to it but to give you an idea, with RWS my Taycan feels smaller and is much more city friendly than my previsous model 3 perf.

About race-tex vs leather, i let the GTS "crowd" give you their input.

Otherwise, really nice spec ?

GTS interior - STD or otherwise would not be an expected resale item. Most people prefer full leather due to the practicalities and feel. There is still Racetex on the roof and I would advise ticking the b-pillar also.

Personally I've gone extended leather with Racetex B-Pillars.

4+1 may be more practical but the +1 is not suitable for longer journeys. This is 2+2 car at best and most people in the market will know this. Same for the Panamera.
Carbon I would skip too.

Very nicely spec’ed . But since the color is crayon, I do have an advice for you . Stay away from us marines , don’t even let them get close , because they eat crayons for dinner.

I'd also get HUD, RWS, PDCC and LCA - but then again I'm nuts.

Cheers W1nge, good to know about the interior this has probably swayed me towards the leather and the 2+2, my gut was going that way anyway, that said I'm a sucker for carbon and I think the contrast with the crayon is ??

Nice spec, I really like it except the racetex but that's personal.

I'd consider the HUD & RWS and I would pass on the passenger display (I don't like people touching my screens lol)

Lovely spec! I would love the extra bits but originally set out looking at a 4S cross turismo, after upgrading switching my order to the GTS ST when it was launched even my napkin maths can't stretch the budget out much further than I already have!

I believe the 4+1 seating gets you the 40/20/40 split folding rear seat, while speccing the 2+2 only gives you 60/40. That is the main reason I have the 4+1 on my 4S CT order.

Thanks for the insight! This is the type of thing I was looking to find out. Luckily I only have 60/40 currently with the model S and it's not caused me too much grief.

I don't have mine yet but my order is close to production.

My opinion is GTS Race Tex is a must as is RWS. PDCC I think gives marginal improvements and probably only noticed on the track. All 3 GTS demo cars I have driven has had Race Tex, RWS and no PDCC.

I don't like the look of the roof rails on a GTS, to me it spoils the lines. The only thing I want to carry is bikes so will buy the over priced bike rack but I save 588 euro and 366 euros on the roof rails and bars. Pays for over half the bike rack.

I also don't like the rear smoke. For me its too dark and spoils the look making the car look unbalanced and bulky at the back. I'm saving 504 euros but not speccing and using that to get Nano Ceramic heat reflective window film on all windows. I'm in SW France so we get crazy temperature of 40 C plus.

I've gone for standard Race Tex. I love the look of the stitching but wow is it expensive and I've heard causes delays in production. Oh and ACC is a must, I've also spec'd PIRM and Innodrive.

On the 4+1 I have this, I tested 3 GTS demo cars and all had 4+1. I never noticed the panels being different in the rear seats until someone pointed it out to me. I occasionally carry 5 and thinking of resale value as some families have 3 kids. I also like the extra split rear folding back rests.

Then choice of colour. I test drove a Crayon GTS ST and the colour did nothing for me and it was a bright sunny day. But colour is a very personal thing so take no notice of me if you like it.

Yea Racetex is really nice and I feel lowers risk of interior squeaks.

Rear wheel steer is very practical in town and I believe it helps with handling at speed too (?‍♂)

I’d also go for 150DC charger - there seem to be a number of 100/150DC options opening up and I’ve often seen my rare visits to IONITY show charge at lower Kw levels anyway … 100/150kw for 20-30mins would give a boost of 100-130 miles … that’s a really decent extent of charge.

if you are budget constrained - Porsche charges a LOT for cosmetics - I'd forgo the cosmetic Carbon "bits" and opt for "functional" changes - but that's just me - either way it's a great car and your spec is fantastic - you're going to love it.

Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo (2023)

  • It's a GTS, so drop the roof rails -£413
  • It's a GTS, so drop the Vauxhall Astra Boy Racer, dirt magnet "Sport Design Package" and leave the GTS exclusive trim as is -£2,525
  • Drop Comfort Access if not for risk of theft at a minor inconvenience -£774
  • Drop the passenger display -£725
  • Drop the 22kW onboard charger (can cause technical faults and you'll likely never make full use of it) -£1,179
  • Drop the carbon mirrors (look naff imo, expensive to repair/replace is damaged) -£1,052

Budget: £6,668

With that, consider:
  • Get RAS
  • Insulated thermal glass
  • Painting wing mirrors, model designation and rear wiper gloss black
  • Prep for dashcam (it's free and can also reduce insurance)
  • Seat heating
  • Paint your vehicle key Crayon
  • Line sun visors in leather, possibly grab handles for symmetry
  • Get the matching leather edged mats and boot mat
  • Line nasty scratchy plastic B pillar in Race-Tex
  • If you must add carbon, get the carbon illuminated sill guards instead of wing mirrors, because they look better.

You should have some change left for the PPF + ceramic coating.
