and what about Singing Kettle one.. it's a shame there so little options for Rapid chargers by welsh sea side ...

would be great to have a couple in the middle of wales to support return one day trips..

Agreed
Better arrangement than before but needs queuing system.
6 NOT enough.
Usually only 4/6 working and 2 more blocked.
One with something rubbish with max rate of 50kw/hr and another one with someone insisting on going all the way to 100%.
Oh boy, I'm now remembering what it was like owning my last EV ?

At Ionity MK, a Tesla driver sat there going to 100% whilst hoovering his car, with a flipping Renault Zoe on the next door machine, when there were 10 BP 50kw chargers free ?

Drove me absolutely crazy.

People have no idea how to use them, and it was all the time.

Had a chat with a van driver last week who was parked at the only 350 unit with 7x 150’s free next to him. He thought it would charge faster and he was completely unaware.

Unbelievable, people just don't get it.

I've had similar conversations. And even after explaining it I still came away thinking it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to their charging behaviour going forward...

Just had some excellent charging experiences worth reporting.

Travelled from Manchester to Edinburgh Friday evening. Back Sunday afternoon. Peak times.

Aimed for Gretna Ionity with trepidation as only 4 chargers still.

On way up saw a sign before Tebay services advertising new chargers. Gridserve. 8 new bangers. All occupied but no queue. On in 5 mins. 20 mins max speed. Faster than we could eat. Enough to get to Edinburgh.
Bypassed Gretna. 60p not 30p but worth it for convenience and better food.

Hit Gretna Sunday late pm on way home. Only 2 occupied. Another 20 min blast. On our way. Gretna not the bottleneck it was as so many alternatives.

Birmingham and back last Friday.
Top up at Stafford ionity at peak time on way home. Not busy. Max speed charge. 20 mins again. Sorted. (M6 still shit Friday pm)

Was I lucky or are things better.?

You'd think it would be possible to put a labelling system on the charge port of the car and elsewhere in it to make it clear not to plug in at anything over the fastest for the car unless absolutely necessary.

Or software on the chargers themselves that warns people they are at a charger faster than necessary (eg if there are power ones available on the site) and will be billed a premium.

I guess the "charge per minute" on the faster chargers effectively does the same thing. Maybe more needs to be made of that and to tune it to discourage slower charging cars not to use the beefier chargers....

Are you aware there's Ionity Carlisle, 8 miles to the south of Gretna? 12 chargers and just off the M6.

Something needs to be done.

Maybe inputting the reg into the charger or app and then it could recognise the type of car etc and reject it.

Overly complex I know.

People are ignorant and simply don't care that they're drawing 50kwh and will be an hour, when you could be drawing 320kw and be on your way in 10 minutes.

Just like the queue of cars waiting for chargers and people are sat there at 99%.

I thought car and charger did a handshake... If that could be used it would be automatic.
