Dealer just texted me with an update that the high voltage heater is the issue and has been ordered but is back ordered. Yay. Reached out to Porsche NA hoping they’d at least get me a loaner or rental car while this is going on. But crickets…

Without a doubt, there is probably some serious litigation going on internally between Webasto and Porsche and I suspect that's why there's been no comment from either party regarding this. I highly doubt that the failure is caused by the weather and instead it's the fact that we're in the winter and wet season that people are just now noticing the issue since this is the time that they are actually using the heater.

When the heater goes, there's no warning message or anything that indicate that something is wrong, so that could be another indicator that they have no diagnostic that's able to detect this. Otherwise it would of likely been picked up during all the numerous software updates that the early model years have had. Remember, this is not a winter 2022 issue. This is an issue that dates back all the way to winter 2020 though at that time, there wasn't as many Taycan around and I remember there was only maybe a handful of cases. Winter 2021 was another batch which my Taycan was also affected. With all the reports & the number of reported cars in dealer shops that needs this repair and is waiting on parts, it's probably safe to say that every Taycan is affected and not your one off with everything else.

The problem is how to fix the issue. Unless they can find a way to find a root cause the only thing they can do is just replace the part. Anything else would be a shot in a dark and the last thing you want to do is design a new heater and set up the manufacturing line if you're not even sure if that will address the root cause or even how to replicate the failure. Could be something as simple as just a bad part capacitor in heater electronics that was not manufactured to the defined specification or as complicated as that something is fundamentally wrong and requires an entire new redesign.

Been waiting for over a month. Porsche Bergen still has no idea when they'll get the part in...

It’s nearly every 1 out of 4 cars. So 3 out of 4 haven’t either noticed or haven’t had the issue (yet)
I’ve also read there have been several revisions of the unit already, but then also ‘22 cars failing right from delivery. So far there is no pattern or rationale known to the outside world.

Apparently according to OPC .....Mine has been replaced with modified version of the HV heater which has cooling fan to stop it overheating in very cold weather.... Seems odd... don't they sell Taycan in Iceland>>??

Like others have complained here, I have also a defective heater although the air blows but same temperature as what it pulls from outside. Temperatures here in Switzerland are in negative zone so nearly impossible to drive the car for any drive longer than 30 minutes as feet get freezing etc.

Have my car booked in for next week, but they don't know how long it will be in for as they first need to diagnose. So much for telemetry and OTA all that 'welcome to the future' stuff that was supposed to happen.

Taycan is my 4th P car, and in 1 year of ownership so far the Taycan alone has had more unscheduled dealer visits than my 3 other P cars in the combined 8 years I have had them;
  • charing port replaced,
  • interior alarm random issues,
  • crashing infotainment that wouldn't restart for days,
  • LTE modem that works 50% of the time – still not 100% fixed,
  • media favourites that would get regularly deleted until infotainment update a few weeks ago,
  • phantom emergency braking,
  • ACC sensor failure,
  • heating failure
  • and yesterday failure of all outdoor cameras
Insane. Thank god it's a lease.

This one will not be permanently joining the fleet. Can't wait for the lease to be over despite the great pleasure I get from driving the car, when it works.
By way of quick update on heater issues, my car's been with the dealer since beginning of this week and they still don't have an ETA on the high voltage heater part availability from the parts warehouse that serves Switzerland. They think it won't be before end of next week before they have some news.

I thought my friends with Teslas were getting shortchanged waiting weeks for parts to arrive for their cars. Turns out Porsche is no better in that regard; somewhat surprising as I have had to change gearbox before on another P car (something the dealer told me they seldom swapped, maybe once or twice every year) and that was delivered overnight.

They've provided me with a nice replacement Taycan, but at a the daily rate they are charging the warranty claim this is turning out to be a very expensive affair for Porsche factory. Hopefully they learn a lesson about not using cut-price suppliers

Heater just died on me two days ago. Ughh earliest I can get a appt was Feb 10th for a diagnostic.
In the UK you just call Porsche assist and they recover the car for you and it jumps the queue. Not sure if this is an option in the US but waiting for a standard appointment does not seem appropriate when it should arguably not be driven due to risk of steaming up.

2022 4S has just joined the No Heat Club. It’s going in on 2/3/2023 for evaluation and correction. Dealer in Burlington MA is providing a loaner. Out of 15 months of ownership 3 months have been spent at the dealership. (Always with a loaner). Hopefully… This adventure will resolve more quickly.

2/16 Update.

The car has been at the dealer for 2 weeks. I am told the part is on order. This dealer is absolutely terrible about communicating the status of the car. Will post again as stuff happens.

My car has no heat and dealer arranging hire car . They cannot take the car until 13th Feb . The dealer stated there were some cars in with the same problem. Can anyone tell me if the front screen has an electric demister?

In the Taycan, windshield defrosting and defogging is handled by the high voltage heater, which also heats the cabin. Out of curiosity, what model year is your Taycan?

are you sure about the demisting? My heater was broken and I was driving in negative temperatures (also inside...) but not misting on the windows. I speculate that the AC compressor is running in order to dehumidify the air.

When heat is needed to defog the windows, the electric heater is the source. If AC is needed, it is still available, even if electric heater does not work. Which function is needed depends upon the temperature of the windshield and the dew point of air in the cabin. When dew point of air is higher than temperature of windshield, fogging can occur.
