My 2021 4S was booked in for the ARB6 recall on Friday. Apparently to review the battery condition , and then again in 60 days.
It was cancelled on Christmas Eve by text saying it was to be done OTA.
I called the dealer and Porsche UK who both said that was correct. They couldn’t explain why the advice had changed.
The advice from both was to charge it away from buildings and only to 80% as recommended previously.
Not happy.
Maybe the mothership has changed its mind, or Porsche UK have decided they won’t pay. Who knows.
Anybody else had this happen?
There may be two levels of concern because my letter did not mention charging away from buildings, just the future availability of monitoring software to check battery condition OTA.

My dealer subsequently did whatever checks were current during its first service and told me the monitoring software was expected to be available at the end of March but the checks they had done had been checked and approved by Porsche.

No advice not to charge over 80% either, though I only do so just before leaving on a long journey, my profile has been st at 80% since I set one anyway.

Given how widespread misinformation about EVs is, at least in the English speaking world, any actual fire problem would have been leapt upon by the usual suspects and blown out of all proportion so I think we can safely say the nearest we have got to that so far is indignance at a letter.

Seems Porsche are being cautious about new technology to me, maybe excessively so but probably unavoidably since neither we nor they could have predicted it.

I had the ARA4 performed on my car back in Dec and now it's still subject to ARB7. I was told by dealer no charging limits. Although I tend to not charge it above 80-85% anyway except on rare occasions.

That said, neither this car nor my wife's macan EV get charged in the garage. Oddly I'm old parking 3 old gas burning 911s in there :)

Hello. Four months have passed since the last posting on this subject. Any developments? My Turbo S in South Africa continues with the max charge of 80%, at the request of the dealer. What might be next step, based on experience elsewhere on this specific Taycan issue? Thank you.

If your VIN is included in ARB7, you wait until Porsche makes the diagnostic software available for installation by the dealer. Published schedule for that is 1st quarter 2025. If your VIN is included in ARB6 (Porsche cannot get OTA updates from your car), your car should be taken into dealer for them to check the HV battery (and replace defective modules, if found). Then you wait until the diagnostic software becomes available 1st quarter 2025.
Unofficial info from Porsche is that the actual date for software remedy availability is the end of 1st quarter 2025.

Related documents filed by Porsche in US are linked in this thread.

Looks like the dealer was able to do the ARB7 recall on my car, finally completed!!
No issues found but the tech said they send everything to Porsche for final diagnostics.

Mine is in right now for the same thing. So, that means you're able to charge as you please?

My car also has ARB7 done, and has had it done since December. The key is, they marked ARB7 done, but the actual action item, with a different code, is not done - aka the actual software.

I just received my vehicle back yesterday and it had as part of multiple recalls, the charging cable update as well as the Porsche mobile charger software update. Also, the ARB seven update was performed with no issues detected.

With the car returned, my maximum range has been 165 miles with 100% charge (since I had to drive 110 miles from the dealership home it was fully charged by them). It’s cold here in Minnesota believe me at minus 10 F or below when I picked up the vehicle. Yet, it was that cold prior to me having this update and I was at about 200 miles of range .

My question is did either one of these updates limit my ability to charge completely to pre-update levels? I’m sure that’s been addressed somewhere in this forum and the dealership denied that I would get any lower range after these updates. Does anyone else have any further knowledge? Thank you.

We’ve always been able to charge as we please under ARB7. The recall letter says nothing about charging limitations.

I am not seeing any evidence from the last few posts that BMCe software actually being updated. The expectation is to receive a letter that states that ARB7 recall now has a remedy which is BMCe software update instructing us to schedule BMCe software update. We have not seen this kind of letter yet since the only thing we know that it may be available by the end of Q1 of 2025.

No TSBs from Porsche or Audi describing instructions for installing diagnostic software for ARB6/ARB7 and related Audi campaigns have been posted on NHTSA.
Either TSBs have been issued and not posted, or US service work descriptions indicating BMC software has been installed are incorrect.

The battery monitoring software was announced to become available during Q1 of 2025 which my service adviser said probably meant the end of March. It would then need to go in to be installed at the dealer but then OTA monitoring would be able to be carried out.
Whether my 12V battery has ther capacity for this I do not know...

Well, if it's not available by end of March, then it's not available in Q1 of 2025. Of course, this is assuming Porsche communications department actually knows what months constitute Q1 and that their announcement was based on some facts, as opposed to wishful thinking or simply pacifying customers. They could also borrow tricks from Tesla, install this new software on one car of a youtube influencer, make sure they make the video about it, tell the rest of the world they will get said software in order of importance. This way they could claim they did in fact made the software available in Q1 - nowhere in the announcement did it say it will be available to everyone, right?

Are you concerned this new OTA monitoring will drain/kill the 12V battery?
