yeah the problem here is getting everthing spliced into the proprietary connector that connects to the PMC+/PMCC head-unit - but yeah a supply cable and better NEMA 14-50P unit would go a long ways towards improving the Porsche unit - but the PMC+/PMCC has other issues as noted in other threads and really really good EVSE's can be hand for $300 or less…even when you "fix" the supply cable you're left with other PMC+/PMCC quality issues…

This is exactly the problem - a defective plug. I got a J+ Booster charger and it's cool as a cucumber.

I just hit mine with my thermal camera - pulling just under 9kw and the plug was topping out at 130-140F and cable was also warm 110-120 - I need to pull the pics from the thermal camera but getting warm. Its not getting really HOT like some other people.

these numbers are in line with reasonable expectations - not excessive

when you say the plug - which end - the part that provides power to the EVSE? or the plug that is going into the vehicle on the driver/passenger side?

How many more new threads will be added to this forum about Porsche EVSEs getting hot?
Almost seems like some people who discover hot PMCC/+ don't bother searching, reading and adding to the many existing threads on this topic.

PMCC/PMC+ box, cables, plugs, wall receptacle feel too hot? Instead of spending hundreds on a thermal imaging camera, use the money to buy a decent non-Porsche EVSE as recommended in a hundred posts on this forum.

Lots of threads on this - yes. I have had my thermal equipment for some time, this is just a good use of it. Overall I wish Porsche fixed their charger vs just neutering it. It is not functioning to the design.
