On the preheating for DC charging, would the car use enough energy getting it up to temp for quicker DC charging to negate the advantage of doing it in the first place?
Yes off course.
Note that this feature already exists and works.
The only problem is that you can only activate it by setting the dc charger as a stop towards another destination.
So the feature works. What is not available, is an easier way to activate it.

Obviously, when you activate this feature, it should update the remaining distance. That would allow you to assess if you would make it up to the charger or not.

I expect it will not happen.
Porsche is more about marketing than about pure technical excellence.

The silly launch control feature helps them to advertise high power but still keep a lot of different power-price levels. Plus they do not want to make the Taycan too fast compared to the 911. If they would go all the way with the Taycan, it would crush the 911 acceleration times. It is all about managing a product portfolio that makes the most money. Not to make the best product.

The marketeers at Porsche have more power than the engineers.
Well I timed it on dragy and managed a 2.8s to 100, with ease.
It does easily match most 911s. It should not be their main objection certainly not in light of the upcoming tri motor GT Taycan.
Otherwise perhaps an aftermarket tune when they become a bit more affordable (and they will).

On top of that I hope for door handles extending every time I'm approaching the car and smoother App/PCM interface. The app takes over 1 minute to connect and any command takes 15 seconds. And nicer graphics, its very similar to old Panamera PCM.
I’d love the “touch “ car lock on the handles to work every time. It’s perfect on my Macan so I wonder why that system didn’t transfer to our Taycans.

When one uses a timer, the battery is preconditioned as well
Only because the battery warms due to chemical reaction. Charging overnight (as I've done for 3 years now) does not precondition / preheat (warm) my battery beyond the norm expected from charging in the first place. For AC charging there is no need to precondition as the energy consumed and therefore the rate of charge is too low.and heating would be a waste of energy

Adding a stopover or destination in NAV as an EVSE>= 50kw DC (DC) will precondition and if distance permits the battery temp will rise markedly to around 32C.

No, it does. It’s especially noticeable when you slowly charge (10a). When it’s about 0 degrees, just charging results in battery temperature being about 10 degrees and when I used a timer, the battery temperature was ~20. I did that mistake when I bought a car last winter - I wanted it to charge to a certain point and used a timer + profile at first.

EDIT: I made a test once again. It doesn’t :( I was wrong. Sorry

If it was preconditioned for DC charging it would be above 30. Suspect the increase is a byproduct the timer heating the cabin (since it's the same heater). So the battery is getting warmer yes, but not ready for DC charging. Which would not make sense to pair with the timer feature either.

Nice that is what I was hoping for. Any idea what will be improved?

WPN8: reprogram control unit central computer (PCM) (because of possible black screen and also the hang up of the load planning)

At the big update last year where from three to five icons in the PCM was changed, probably two control units were not addressed correctly.

this would be answered by the Taycan turbo GT when/if it comes out, and i think the technical excellence of Porsche is the pure foundation to allow their marketing practice driven by their aggressive commercial goal across the product lines

I think the only benefit on pre-heating would be if the car was plugged in...and I think you can already do battery pre-heating when plugged in by using a timer?

Agree on the power front. Maybe have it as part of one of the modes (or settable as part of one of the modes).

I'd like to see
  • The ability to put any of the current info choices in any "tube". Why can't I put "media" in the left tube? Or even have it left and right if I really wanted
  • Voice control being faster to respond
  • Voice control being able to search on more things, including and especially media on USB (if my 2016 Volvo can do it...)
  • Better use of the buttons for media and other control...e.g.
    • With media in the right tube (not left or anywhere else as that's verboten)...
    • I can get a list of radio stations or tracks by pressing the right wheel button...
    • Why can't I go to the top of the list and press ".." to go up a level in whatever hierarchy that got me there (album search, artist search or whatever)?
    • Why can't there be another ".." at the top of that tree that lets me choose media? Or my "favourites"
  • Sliders for scrolling through lists could be a little more user friendly (a bit bigger and more "available", so not needing to start by flicking through a list)
  • I'd like to create "tiles" from any of the PCM settings type options....and I'd like to be able to put some of them on the lower screen too. So if I want the external cameras on, I'd like to create a tile for that and drop it on a screen. Same with any other option (it's possible as it seems Porsche tune what is shown by default based on options installed...).
Having been critical of PCM before, it's soooooo close to actually being properly usable.
  • It'd be quite nice if Android Auto/Car Play fully integrated with the instrument cluster/HUD. That might preclude wanting some of the above

I'm sure I'll have more moans as I use the car more :D

maybe just make the PCM work faster without lag... surely this is outdated to have such a slow interface!?

My wish list;
- more features for the passenger display and more options for the single-person mode. Now it just shows “taycan” or current song.
- more options for the tubes / cockpit. For example I dont need a full map overthere, but one of the tubes can show the map (not just navigation directions)
- option to enable the rear light by default. Not just at night.
- more options for the Hud.
- diamond button to enable boost mode (horsepower of the launch control)
- smarter diamond button. For example option to program a double click feature; one click next song in playlist. Double click to enable sport sound.
- shorter preheat / precooling. Now the desired temperature is reached in 10 minutes but it still consumes valuable battery for another 50 minutes.
- carplay options from the cayenne MY24
- get rid of the white Taycan in pcm, just show my car with my options.
- more sounds for the sport sound and option to adjust volume
- option to alter the VLC from the back seats through the screen in the middle.

Other than has already been said, I’ve always felt that the bottom touchscreen is severely underused.

I dare to say that the touchpad part is utterly pointless and might as well be removed for something better, like any set of car controls or media controls.

Alternatively (or additionally), they could add a number of new multitouch gestures. You can already two finger swipe to control volume (pretty pointless), but it would be cool if you could swipe right and left to skip or rewind the media player, or three finger swipe to launch different diamond button type shortcuts or apps.
