Pretty broad strokes, @chun
Are you refering to my age comparisions? Statistics agree with me, overwhmigly even.

Average Porsche Owner Age | Porsche of Colorado Springs (porschecoloradosprings.com)

Buyers of the fan-favorite Porsche 911 model are. often between 46 and 65 years old, with the average age being 52.
Car Brand Demographics: 37 Brands Checked (Age, Income, Etc) | Motor & Wheels (motorandwheels.com)
In terms of age, Porsche buyers tend to be middle-aged or older, with a median age of 54 years old.
U.S.: EV purchase likelihood by consumer age group | Statista

Young people between 18 and 29 years old were the age group most likely to consider the purchase of an electric vehicle in the United States as of May 2022. Around 55 percent of the Americans between 18 and 29 years old surveyed reported being somewhat or very likely to consider buying an electric car. By contrast, only 31 percent of the respondents over 65 years old surveyed declared having an interest for the vehicle segment. The likelihood to consider the purchase of an electric vehicle also depended on consumers' previous EV knowledge.

a study from Jerry, a Palo Alto-based car insurance savings app, found that 58% of the drivers of the newer Teslas (2023 and 2024 models) are between the ages of 22 and 34 — meaning the majority were Millennials or Gen Z
Are you going to tell me that the 30 year olds that are growing up with super computers on wheels are going to choose the stick and stones offered by Porsche when they become 52-54? Doubt it.
Porsche is writing their obituary by not investing in their software.

Was it last year, where Porsche CEO and Audi CEO went to the unveiling of the Audi factory in China, and first Audi cars produced there for the global market, and they become a laughing stock when the infotainment turned itself off and glitched live for everyone to see? They were forced to delay delivery for all cars.

Lets agree to disagree. Some see software as selling-point. Some don’t. To be on topic; I think we all want updates, for some it is more important than others

J1.1 Taycan is the only car I regret buying because software is slow and still has bugs, airbag error, key-fob error, doors handles not opening all time, etc
Second reason is the average efficiency and range for a 200k EV.

Maybe it’s me but I attribute near zero value to PCM or any other infotainment system. Give me manual vents, a backup cam, and a knob for drive modes and that’s about 99% of my PCM use case.

Using watches for comparison, clearly Rolex (of course AP and others too) don’t need to go digital and follow Apple’s footsteps to be successful. Porsche could hypothetically make an EV but have high quality analog controls? In fact, it seems like a bigger differentiator than trying to follow Tesla. Just give an option for a CarPlay screen and that should be all that’s needed?

My point exactly.....

Think you've missed the point.... I bought my Taycan because of its resemblance to a 911 interior - have you sat in a 992? Its all very familiar.

In a few years if all cars are electric even the fabled 911 will be electric. At which point purists wont be buying cars with 'fart buttons' and no clocks behind the wheel.

Oh and final point... I have a taycan now but my next car will likely be a 911 ICE and i dont hate EV's??!?!?. Maybe im old (mid thirties).

As i say from one 100k car to another im pretty happy with the PCM (even without the fart button).
911 will never be exclusively 100% electric. Hybrid is on sale now and will evolve.

Boxster EV on the way but smaller batch variants will skirt around EU rules and will remain ICE.

911 will mirror this is my guess.

Which we know it's fake, also from interviews with the respnsible person for the development of J1.2 taycan, specifically when he was discussing with the guy from Out of Spec Reviews. I don't remember the exact video.
But the hardware has not been changed. It is the exact same computer inside :)
I remember watching that. It made me less excited about the new facelift. Whether it is true or not, why would he even say that?

When the 30 year olds crawl out of moms basement and get real jobs, they will realize that driving a Porsche in real life isn’t like driving a Porsche in moms basement.

I wouldn’t put much faith in the veracity of things like that, judging from first hand experience of management types misspeaking about embedded systems I’ve worked on. It does seem like something a professional spokesperson would not do.

Now that this on-camera moment has blown out of proportion and has got my interest, can somebody actually remember where it occurs and provide a link? I want to see it If it exists.

I'm ok with the .1 PCM, but a few bugs;

Instead of blank, should show recuperation mode in grey on the instrument cluster while in ACC, similar to how the set speed is shown when out of ACC.
It can be changed while in ACC, and it would be useful to see what it will be when dropping out of ACC.

If ACC is set in the HUD, one press of the distance toggle does nothing, instead it should change because the bars are already visible.
When ACC is set both in the tube and the HUD, or just the tube, one press makes a change.
If ACC isn't set to be displayed in the left tube, one press makes the bars visible, then the next press makes the change.

When changing mode from Normal to Range with Eco Plus, temperature shows ---, one press increases what it was set to instead of showing what it's set to.

I'm a 30 year old with a porsche and the lol worthy infotainment is something making me look elsewhere. They're going to get rekt by the competition.

The taycan is a wonderful car but the software is such a joke lel.

Your lack of being able to spell in English makes my point.

I am not sure what is desired in a pcm that isn’t done by CarPlay or android auto.

Historically looking back to a previous era it is sort of like a stereo I guess. I really wish we could get back to the days one could upgrade their stereo after market and it didn’t look like shit.

Possibly I am missing some point, of the car infotainment/pcm … but let my phone do it all or provide a means for me to update the computer and screen every few years.

I haven’t used. Tesla much… but am not wowed by their software aside from the auto driving bit. The rest feels frustrating to use while driving.
