have the base lights - agreed. the auto dipping is dogshit. I have switched the auto dipping off. for me, auto dipping is a solution for a problem that never existed in the first place.

I'm having the opposite problem with my PDLS+ lights. The auto feature is enabled (A in the green headlight on dash), but the headlights don't go into full beam when they should. Last night I drove 8 miles along a mostly dark, car-free A road at between 30 and 60mph. Full beam came on after about 3 miles, at 54mph, and then dipped as we entered a lit section as they should, but then stayed dipped all the way home, which was frankly dangerous at anything over 50mph.

So I know they're on the right setting and do "work" as they came on once, but it feels to me like there's a sensor issue here - or am I missing something?

Over the last year; I’ve come to realise that the dip function has multiple levels of engagement. Ie the display can stay green - but the headlight be brighter. I wonder if your situation is that.

And / or your system needs recalibrated. Which your dealer can do for you.

I had PDLS+ for 14 months and now Matrix for 14 months.
Both worked/work immaculately for me, as good as any lighting systems I have ever experienced.
PDLS+ is very good and all you need really but Matrix is a step up and is just unbelievably good

Matrix here. I think mine work as specified, but I'm not totally happy with that. The last 500 meters or so home is a narrow road through a forest with no street lights, and high beam is the right thing (there may be deer...), but auto keeps the beam low because of the speed. I think "high" speed should not have been a requirement for high beam.

I must say on the auto dip cars I have owned I often over-ride the speed related system for exactly this reason, low speed doesn’t always mean dipped is best.

Thanks. To clarify, I have LED Matrix with PDLS+. I rang the dealer this morning based on my experience and the comments here. It does sound like the camera behind the rear view mirror needs to be recalibrated, although he suggested cleaning the windscreen to see if that helped ?

Base lights don't have auto dip, this caught me out. They have auto headlights, but not auto dip (as useful as... I guess by auto they mean from sides to dipped beam). You need to add PDLS+ to auto dip / full.

I’ve got PDLS+. I find they stay on when they shouldn’t, particularly on dual carriageways / motorway. Great in the backroads. I’ve had / got matrix equivalents on other cars and they have been much better suited to road conditions. Luckily, I don’t drive the Taycan much at night?

Activation at >= 40mph and if no street lights detected.

That's why PDLS+ is an option on base LEDs (same on any Porsche) and standard on Matrix.

PDLS+ adds more features too with the full suite on Matrix - cornering lights, sign recognition / highlighting, adverse weather and so on.
