Yeah, but I haven't had to go there for a couple years and didn't think it would be useful given the same response on three different internet connections. I'm going to wait for tech support as its not a show stopper.

When I restart the charger I see about 19kB of SSL/TLS traffic over the internet interface out to the cloud, 12kB down 7kB up. Just dunno what it is.
Do you have a complex password?

I have a faint recollection that this can be an issue.

Suggest to reset your Porsche ID password to something simple as an experiment.

No idea why they took it out, but I sure hope they bring it back!
Probably a low take rate, combined with some reliability issues, so perhaps they decided to cut costs and drop it to reduce the number of SKUs to manage going forwards (which includes both engineering of 2 SKUs and keeping both SKUs on hand for replacements).

It was wholly unreliable and removed. Not an option on J1.2.
While mine failed in under 2 years, I also read of people here with 11kW which failed in about the same time. Do you have any concrete data comparing failure rates of 11kW vs. 19.2kW chargers?

PS> What failed on mine was some internal (to the onboard charger) temperature sensor, since the PIWIS diagnostic error was "unable to read temperature sensor". Apparently that error prevented even DC charging.

@tigerbalm managed to get through 4 if not 5 22kW chargers on his first Taycan.

Take up would have been region specific and in UK for example most people have single phase 32A at home and so no need to option without paying a fortune for a 3 phase supply for little actual benefit.

DC charging infrastructure took off and so public AC charging is now 2nd choice for most.

% wise no idea on comparative failures and to date on 2 Taycans I've been lucky with my 11kW.

I don't get to the point of entering a Porsche ID or password. It first needs a basic secure SSL/TLS connection to the mother ship. I think that the negotiation set up fails, but I don't know what I don't know.

Most odd. Try another home network? Exhausting as this is it should be solveable but if a recent patch has contributed then I guess that will be a challenge.

By the time you do get hooked up be prepared to be underwhelmed.as the charging control is still via the app and you'll rarely have a need to use the PWCC interface.

If I was on the ball, after the Server authentication error/Limited service notice thats provided by the current software version I would not have bothered with trying to link a Porsche ID.

When a SSL/TSL connection is set up, first a non secure connection between the two parties is established and then the two ends exchange information to negotiate the secure connection. Trusted certificates are required for this process.

The data going out and coming back from the cloud I see is the negotiation going on, I think. One side does not like the negotiations and leaves the table so the secure connection fails to establish.

Every time the charger restarts, it attempts to make a secure connection to the mother ship. It will need this for software updates regardless if it charger is tied to a Porsche ID.

So, in the end there is an unsecured internet connection between the charger and server, but they are unable to establish a secure connection. There are several causes for this from incompatible TSL versions to expired certificates.

Learn something new every day...

Just to update. Porsche support requested the chargers SN. When I restarted the Wall Charger this morning, the charger connected to the cloud and I was able to add it to my profile.

I'll guess that the mother ship was rejecting the charger because the SN was not in its database, blocked, or just for grins.

So glad to hear the issue is resolved!

I have the same charger for sale pretty cheap in the classified section if anyone is interested.
Let’s make a deal!
