The Taycan isn’t a sports car for many reasons, not just any one narrow definition. It’s not a two seater, it’s not lightweight, and, most importantly, it simply doesn’t handle like a sports car. It drives like a very sporty sedan. I love my Taycan, but it’s not a sports car and any one who thinks it is would be encouraged to go drive a real sports car and see the difference for themselves. That said, what it’s called is irrelevant.

I referred to two seats because that is part of the standard definition of a sports car. Not because I was arguing for that narrow a view. Did you miss that part?

Ummm…no it doesnt handle like A big heavy sedan. I had a big heavy sedan before this car, a Hellcat. This car Handles FAR from that in all the best ways. If weight is part of the definition of a sports car, no EV ever will likely meet that requirement (for a long time anyway, until the tech can make batteries so light, they weigh nothing more than gas car).

Electronic sports car…i like it! Let’s start a new field of definitions! Dodge want e-muscle.

I'd say it's equivalent to an M4, maybe an M5 but the latter has more focus on the back seat comfort. I'd say both of those are "high performance vehicles" if not sports cars and the word "sedan" doesn't really exist in England although I refuse to call the Taycan a "saloon" as it is not a Ford Mondeo. I think HPV is a type of virus though...so let's not call it that.

I'm firmly in the "it's not a sports car" camp. Sure it's sportier than many 4-door or 2-door cars. But my any measurable standard it's heavy.

Can you track it? yes. Is it a good track car? no
Can I tour/commute in my Lotus Elise? yes. Is it a good GT car? no

Just because something has elements of something, doesn't make it that thing.

If we develop a racing series comprised of Taycans then can we call it a sports car?

Throw some fast charging into the middle of the race, using EA fast chargers, to really spice it up. Some will instantly plug-and-charge, some drivers will have to fiddle with the Porsche or EA app, while others wait for customer service to answer their call to reset the charger.
