- they are working on some loyalty program for existing Taycan owners, they will offer like 80% of your original invoice price (no more than MSRP) toward purchase of a new Taycan - they really don't want the existing owners "feeling left out" - so they want to transition most of the existing owners into the .2 Taycan so there is no hard feelings.
this would be interesting for sure!

had lunch w/Porsche North America lead EV representative - he disclosed many things about Taycxan .2 - you'll find them interesting

Thanks for this interesting info. When you refer to Taycan .2, do you mean the 2024/2025 facelift or the next generation Taycan?
Seems rather unlikely that Porsche will be offering to buy back current generation Taycans in a few years at 80% of original invoice.

He’s not serious. That’s a wish list.

  • 500 miles range
    • battery is 10% less total capacity vs. Taycan .1 - so this is big improvement in efficiency
  • overall curb weight of the vehicle is now 350 lbs _LESS_ than AWD panamera (accounts for some of the improved range) - so this EV is "lighter" than it's ICE equivalent - but still has instant EV torque and low center of gravity
  • sports chrono supports Track precision app (as does curren Taycan) but now full 'track software' with dash cam support for recording track sessions with full data set/telemetry
  • 1/2 price of current Taycan price points - many previous options now included
  • more volume production - so easier to order - no dealer ADM if there is plenty of supply
  • longer battery warranty 16 years, 500,000 miles (battery replaced if it loses 10% of original capacity)
  • no cold weather range penalty (actually goes further in the cold)
  • feels like a 911
  • has cargo room of the Cayenne
  • seats 5 adults comfortably
  • new PMCC 2.0 that actually cools your home while charging the car
  • 19.2 kW charging option included
  • 900V/500 kW charge rate - plug&charge for all networks - included 6 years free charging
    • 100% accurate charging status for sites to use during Navigation routing - dynamic adjustment
      • automatic "trouble ticket" notification sent to charging site vendor if people have destination in nav that requires their site, but had to reroute - so some sort of "demand based" updates to vendors so they know people are being re-routed and can send service team to get charging site back online.
    • ability to place a charging stall reservation 'in dash' for when you arrive no waiting
  • charging guarentee - charge session will start in 2 min with no problems or you get $50 credit for each "problem" charging session - credit applied to future Porsche purchases
  • 5% to 95% in 12 minutes
  • 0-60 in 1.9 seconds
  • 4 separate motors - one for each wheel
  • really really trick torque vectoring/handles with 4 separate motors - you will be amazed how this car handles
  • top speed 225 mph (reduced range to 280 miles at that speed)
  • one click ordering @ MSRP via Porsche Corp. website - no more dealer issues
  • phone as a key support
  • OTA updates
  • wifi hotspot support
  • charge scheduling software mere mortals can fathom and setup
  • metal roof, pano-roof, and open/close glass roof options
  • one pedal driving is now an 'option' in individual mode of you like - still off by default - only supported in range, normal (individual mode) - not supported in Sports or Sports Plus "mode"
  • endurance track events no problem - car should run full pace for 1 hour before it needs a "rest' if battery consumption holds up
  • porsche is working to have fast charging available for "free" at the top 75 tracks world wide for track days
  • PCM 7 is a major upgrade - Prosche targeted Tesla/BMW/Apple/Andrio levels of user experience, performance, security, and responsiveness
  • more material choices for interior choices - targeting top end luxury options to rival all other vendors
  • fully adjustible suspensiion - soft like a rolls royce, or as stiff and responsive as a Cupcar - 16 levels of adjustment for all levels of ride quality.
  • some active aero elements from the GT3 RS (mostly the front end downforce tricks) - so car is super responsive on turn in and handles like it's on rails
  • native supercharger support - no adapter required in North America (already true in Europe) - and the entire network is available by agreement with Tesla (working to extend same deal to Audi - but for now this is porsche only)
    • supercharger integration is part of the plug&charge support noted above
  • fast charging on both sides of the vehicle - not just one side
  • Matrix Headlights fully supported in North America like in Europe
  • he says Innodrive will "suck less" - but will have to wait for 2026 or later for more improvements beyond what's done in .2 Taycan
  • some trim can be upgraded via OTA FOD style
    • 4 to 4S "upgrade"
    • Turbo to TurboS "upgrade"
    • GTS to Turbo "upgrade"
    • sorry RWD taycan's - lack the front motors so can't do it
    • but some limited support to "bump" your trim from one to the next level via OTA FOD - will be pricy but possible
  • no more launch control - car is always ready for "max performance" - so you're never caught out at a stop light cause you were not in sports plus with both feet on the pedals - just mash the right pedal and GO!!! Always!
all in all it's going to be great - we ran out of time during lunch for him to go over more - but Porsche feels super excited for this iteration and thinks it will blow your socks off - they are working on some loyalty program for existing Taycan owners, they will offer like 80% of your original invoice price (no more than MSRP) toward purchase of a new Taycan - they really don't want the existing owners "feeling left out" - so they want to transition most of the existing owners into the .2 Taycan so there is no hard feelings.

it's going to be awesome - I can't wait!

the funny thing is, in reading it, knowing after a couple lines it was a joke... i still kept thinking, so.. 'how long until this, really?'.... and the resounding answer in my head was: 15 years, if ever. :D sigh. nice one dave.

some of the stuff is clearly fantasy - other things I tried to make a bit outlandish but not too outlandish so you had to think about it for a bit

I can see some of the claims coming to pass over the next 5-20 years - but certainly some things would be unlikely if ever (going further in the cold??)

some of it is pure BS
some of it is wishful thinking - but possible
some of it is what will come inevitably
certainly taken as a whole it's pure bollocks

just trying to lighten the moode - honestly no one outside of porsche knows what is coming for .2 - but we can reference Porsche's play book for the past 30+ years - it will be some very nice "polish" and incremental updates and the .2 will be clearly better than the .1 but not in ways that are extraordinary - and then the next version post .2 will be a complete refresh.

I do expect range to increase and weight to come down as a general rule over time as battery technology continues to progress. Macan will be very telling in this space when it's official specs come to light…
