No - they don't handle it or coordinate it. But as I understand it, different regions/areas/dealerships are serviced by different transport groups (which makes some sense). My dealership is serviced by Reliable. I thought it was random but apparently not - got that from my sales mgr (he's been doing this for quite a while).@DGT the dealers handle and coordinate transport from the port to their dealership?
I would think they’d have all the parts necessary to complete a particular car prior to moving it into production. Why *mostly* build a unit that can’t be released to the port until a particular part necessary for completion is in inventory? I would think it makes more sense to only schedule production on cars that can be completed and ultimately released for shipping in due course. So many cars stuck In production process due to missing parts… right when the plant is about to shutdown for summer holidays…
I requested the aforementioned from the dealer on Friday. He’ll said he’ll reach out, alas, I’m still awaiting details.Have your dealership run a tracking report for you from their PSVM system. It will give a couple more milestones during production and see if it correlates with your TYD dates. It shouldn't take more than a week in production without issues - but they're now in the summer shutdown - assembly resumes some time later in August.
Could it be the options on the car. I’m in the same situation as you but I will reach out to my sales guy next weekI would think they’d have all the parts necessary to complete a particular car prior to moving it into production. if my new, amended, TYD milestone dates are correct I doubt I’ll follow through. My original delivery date was 08/06 which I thought was a bit late in the production year. With this new date of 10/23 I simply can’t live with the fact that cars hitting the shore a few short weeks later will be MY22 so I’ll likely hold off ….
Yes, it will be out of AIS range until it is just outside the port at Halifax. The AIS signal range is about 40 nautical miles. If your TYD shows the ship location moving and the miles to dealership counting down, that tracking is pretty accurate from my experience. Otherwise you have to pay a few bucks for satellite tracking through Fleetmon or others. I saw one person post about a free service for that, but I am not familiar with it.Is it common for the ships AIS to be out of range when crossing the pond? Siem Aristotle has not updated and now says signal lost. I personally think their AIS was having issues in Emden as it kept disappearing.
It's been a long (6 month) wait, but this Turbo S is finally in production.
That's odd. Mine arrived at the dealership on Saturday. It has been prepped and returning to the dealership this evening or tomorrow morning from PPF. I'm taking delivery on Friday afternoon.@DGT - did your car show up yet? mine is still stuck in Baltimore!
My congratulations then! Enjoy!! And I agree it is odd and very frustrating....That's odd. Mine arrived at the dealership on Saturday. It has been prepped and returning to the dealership this evening or tomorrow morning from PPF. I'm taking delivery on Friday afternoon.
Thanks! We saw it on Monday and it looks great. Can’t wait to get it out on the road. Hope yours is on the way soon.My congratulations then! Enjoy!! And I agree it is odd and very frustrating....
According to the VW export schedule yours should be getting on the Mediterranean Highway, which is running a few days behind schedule. It is currently en route to Bremerhaven from your home town, and due in on August 11. If it stays on that schedule it should be to Emden very shortly after that.Mine says sitting at the port now waiting to board a ship. Anyone else in the same boat…? pun intended.
