Every 0.01 Coefficient of Drag reduction translates to better range. The 2025 Taycans are have a reduction in CD in every model of at least 0.01.

The comments above about “change for the sake of change” are factually wrong. Does not every one of us want greater range. Perhaps not someone who owns an older one and is jealous of the range improvements (due to at least some small measure the revised front fascia).

I am not weighing in on whether the new front looks better or worse. I am for sure not saying the significant extra 2025 pricing is worth it — especially not to someone who does not road trip and 99% of the time cares less about range. But the record needs to be straight that the revised front end, whether one likes it or hates it or is in-between on its looks’ change, has a positive range benefit.

As long as there are no sharp edges the front aero is surprisingly shape tolerant, it is keeping the flow attached all the way to the back which is important to make the wake small - the drag is proportional to the momentum loss in the wake - and that is very difficult, particularly for windy conditions.

That front stuff is just styling and since I particularly disliked the larger black plastic intake mouldings on the old GTS, particularly on pale coloured cars (I’d pay extra to have the smaller moulding intakes like my 4S) not keen on whichever new model has the black plastic under the headlights this time either.

The rear vents are faux on the new one so meh!

I’d be surprised if there was any aero gain in the new styling, just the new wheels. Having air suspension which lowers at speed on the base RWD may be the only aero gain in the new range.

I wasn’t sure which front end was which in the photos I have found on the Porsche web site yet but again I dislike the black plastic bit below the headlights on the new ones that have it and those without look a bit Panamera-ish. I’m indifferent to both fronts and really to any of the styling changes.

OTOH there is a nice green back in the colour choice ? but the Neodyme wheels which would match it so well seem to be gone. The new pictures make blackberry look a fair bit paler than before which if accurate I’m less keen on.

Hmm. So you're speculating that the 2025s would not have any range advantage over those of us that optioned air suspension on the 2024 RWD?

As a matter of interest I specced one to as close as I could get to mine and it was 12% more expensive.

Mine actually came out more or less a wash, because some of the things I optioned (e.g. air suspension) are now standard, and the Race-Tex interior is considerably cheaper. Not sure if the standard headlights are what was called "PDLS+" before, but I'm assuming so. Wonder if the matrix ones are officially activatable in the US market or not.

Absolutely not, both the bigger newer tech battery and the new rear motor will be the big changes for range, not the minimal aero change.

The aero makes a difference at speed on long journeys, if you do lots of that.

The battery and motor gain everywhere.

My guess is the entire aero gain is only if you choose one of the more aero wheels (which I wouldn’t)

Ugh that updated front is not vibing with me. Good thing I pre-ordered a 992.2 I guess

I'd already decided that I was keeping my Gen 1 Mamba Green until it becomes a collectors item so I'm happy that they made a leap in efficiency and range but since I don't road trip that often I can wait until the generation with solid state batteries comes. Garage does have an empty spot for a 2 seat electric sports car however : )

I think the Turbo S styling has a cyborg like edge to it. To be fair it's quite fresh looking for that part of the segment. You don't see that styling often on cars.

That said, I'm not a fan of the other trims styling over the J1 I. Yeah maybe I'm still in denial if only partially. :p

I agree, the refresh changes are additive to Turbo S. For the rest of the line-up, the front now looks more similar to the current version with SportDesign package.

Those prominent panels below the headlights (on the Turbos) are going to be dirt traps. Why go to the additional effort and expense of not having the same shape integral to the main front panel? Can they adjust for some aero or cooling function? Or be replaced with another item (additional lighting?) or removed entirely for additional ventilation for the potential GT variant? Perhaps a structural element to soften or otherwise control frontal impact?
