I am looking to choose my spec and live in the UK. Two questions:

1) Is there a difference in size/shape/comfort between the 8 way and 14 way seats - or is it simply the flexibility of adjustment?

2) Is the 150kwh onboard charger needed in the UK?

I look forward to hearing your views

Thanks

1) Not sure, configurator shows different headrests only between the two, perhaps an owner can confirm? (I'm on 18-way)

2) Ah, the age old question! Probably not if you don't leave GB, but if you're driving to Ireland and Europe I think you might.
Most people spec it as insurance (i.e. "just in case")

Not sure about the seats but check the pictures - suspect if both labelled "comfort" then they are the same.

14-way are preferred if budget permits.

150kW DC option is worth it / no brainer. This will enable you to charge at 400V charging locations (BP Pulse for example) where 150kW chargers are on offer. If you don't have this option then you will be limited to 50kW should there be a choice of chargers.

Anything higher e.g. 350kW are as rare as hen's teeth across UK so bear in mind.

I am so glad that question of 150kW was asked by Bobby & replied Bootsie & Winge.
My last day to change spec is tomorrow & now adding the option.
Thank you folks.

Thanks for all your replies. I have had different responses from Porsche UK and my dealer!

Porsche UK -

Thank you for contacting Porsche in regards to your charger query.
I have spoken to my technical team in regards to your query and I have found out the following.
In the UK the majority of 150kw chargers being rolled out by charge point operations will be 800V enabled therefore meaning you can still receive 150kw/h charge without spec’ing the 150kw DC booster on your vehicle.

However if you plan to travel outside the UK, we can’t guarantee that infrastructure in other countries the will be 800v enabled charge points they may be 400v meaning to have a guarantee you will get this you would need the 150kw DC booster on your vehicle. Therefore the booster can give you the confidence to quickly charge in other countries.

Dealership (in UK)

This is the option that enables the car to charge 0-80% in 15-20 mins – so the max input moves up to 150 kW, ideal for the more powerful public charge points.

SO - I am still confused! Nipri, please let us know what you end up doing.

That's correct advice (almost impressive for once!). Note not all 150kW chargers will be 800V so....

I am not surprised at the confusion.
Have emailed my dealer & awaiting reply. Probably will specify just by a miracle do travel in Europe & not left "high & dry".
When do you have to give your final spec?
Thanks,

There is no confusion. The position is clear - there are 400V 150kW chargers in UK (check ZapMap and you will see) and ongoing roll outs will be 800V only (not sure this is true as it impacts legacy cars which can only charge at 400V (Taycan batteries are 800V only and in the minority currently)).

If you are not bothered about resale then don’t select and make do with 50kW, 150kW (if 800v) and 350kW (if you can find any) for DC charging.

This is what just got back from my dealer:
As far as am aware it increases maximum charging when charging at 400V DC public charging points. I am not sure how many public chargers run at 400V's though. I think 400V systems are more popular in Europe than in the UK.
Personally I am now going to specify in the option list.

Your dealer is not well versed in the products they sell.

The 150kW 400V DC option is simply a voltage booster (hence the low cost of the option) which increases the voltage from 400V to 800V so that the battery can take the charge. By default the Taycan has an onboard 800V 50kW DC and 800V 350kW (in reality 270kW) DC charger hence not on the options list.

Right decision to take the option as you will have all DC charging options covered.
