Which Dash Cam is the Best?

I am thinking about buying a dashcam and wondered what experience/advice people on the forum have for me?

Depends on your definition of "best". If warranty coverage or low hassle with Porsche (and depending on you location Porsche Centres attitude) the official Porsche Dashcam can be "the best".

It certainly isn't from a technical perspective, but it will raise no issues should an electrical issue develop in the car and you are needing some warranty cover or goodwill.

I wanted discreet and somewhat cheap
Got one from ARB on aliexpress
Sure there will be cams with better video, but it does a good enough job to capture the situation/license plates ... not looking to make an IMAX movie

I'm a Blackvue Ambassador but I really love their line. The new Elite 10 should be amazing. I have various versions of their 4K 2 channel units in all of my cars for the past 5 years with great success just capturing cool stuff while driving around, and 2 instances where unfortunately I was in an accident and it made the process effortless.

I've also used Viofo units and it's good, but takes up a lot more real estate on the windshield.

I never had any Porsche UK warranty issues with it fitted.

Yes Porsche Stockport, Glasgow and Perth all confirmed if it’s hardwired it will invalidate the Porsche warranty

FYI: I've never had a warranty issue with a hard wired dashcam in the US. Obviously, things may be different in other countries.

Q1 - Regarding dashcams in general. If the HV battery charges the 12v battery (8 times max), why do people bother putting in aux. dashcam batteries for parking mode recording? If there is a decent HV SOC% why worry about it? Is it to isolate the dashcam setup due to warranty issues?


Q2 - Thinking of the following, please comment....
Front: FitCamX (as it is discreet)
Rear: BlackVue?? 2ch single unit with Front facing and Rear facing cameras (for parking mode recording)
