Increased range on older models from big update?

I can see Range mode being a legacy thing which potentially has no future given the myriad of tweaks made since launch.

Range mode does a few other things. It lowers the car and keeps the cooling vents closed which gives the lowest drag coefficient. If you take these away you will lose some range. So I don't think it is a legacy item. In fact they could probably do some other things if you are willing to sacrifice some high speed acceleration for range.

Uninformed guess, but my assumption would be that RWD would have better traction during acceleration. For ICE, you have a couple factors that might cancel that out in that FWD benefits from having the weight of the engine in the front, and not needing to add the weight of a drivetrain to power the rear wheels.

Again, uninformed opinion that might be brutally wrong, but I certainly can't imagine that they'd have implemented this without knowing the impact it would have.

I’ve been monitoring and compare Range/Normal.
if I set lowest chasis position and A/C ECO at Normal, there were no difference at consumption.
Therefore, I;m mostly drive in Normal mode (since I don’t like max speed at Range).

You can set the chassis position manually and you can set the maximum speed if using cruise control to 85 mph, but you can't control the cooling the vents. Range mode keeps them closed which will give you the best Cd.

I agree. On long journeys I have only seen a 2 to 3 % increase in range. So about 10 to 12 km extra. Not worth the disadvantage of max speed at 140 km/h. Normal legal motorway speed here is 130 km/h.
Normal or sport mode for me with AC set at Eco unless the car is too hot.

The highway range with 100% SoC is 350 km. The rest is highly dependent on drive style and temperatures.

On my current trip the difference between range and normal is only a few km extra range like you mentioned And so is eco AC. Eco pro does make a difference. Unusually drive in normal drive and AC mode.

ECO mode works for me almost the whole year, except July and August.

I haven’t had the big update yet, but massively surprised at my trip today.
Fully charged to 249 miles when I left home - drove 212 miles. Range left at destination - 76 miles. So total range of 288 miles !!!
95% of the trip was on motorways with range set (but at 90) and recoup on, but even so

I have a ST RWD with PB+ for 2 months so with the latest software I assume. On long trips, mainly highway, I have a consumption of 18-19/100km.

1 kwh = 1kwh.
and 2500 kg (weight of Taycan) = 2500kg.
Now… how could (entertainment) software extend range, ie. change kgs or kwhs?

Because the major software update also includes improved battery management software that's supposed to improve battery usage and efficiency for improved max range.

It's more than a simple infotainment update, I don't think you read all the information and only focused on the parts you considered important to you.

I read the whole list, but I’ll wait & see….if there will be any difference.

Try these comparisons in the Winter (assuming Northern hemisphere) to see material differences in range.
