Hi all

Drove a 992.2 4GTS last week and cannot get it out of my mind. It’s beautiful, handles well, sounds fantastic and is
very quick, it’s got under my skin. It picks up really well but not quite at full electric levels. Once it’s going it really goes. I’ve got an allocation for a GTS4. It’s not cheap and might be the next Porsche to experience high depreciation but my heart wants one. Would you change your very highly specced J1.1 4s that you’ve already taken all the depreciation on for one?

I keep debating a 911 but I’d miss the outright acceleration and pickup of an EV now (and the running costs)
Have you tried the new hybrid GTS? I was quite surprised coming from a 4s. Pretty good pick up but once it’s going the 4s is dust.

It's hardly a hybrid given the battery is there purely to spin the turbos.

The sound is beautiful but the cost is not.

Zero practicality is an issue - same dilemma for me albeit a non GTS 911 - 911 to keep things pure.

Really don’t want an argument but this version did seem pure to me. If anything it felt like a 5 lt (or 6) NA to me. I thought best of both worlds.

I will go for a 911T.
But not giving away my Taycan Turbo S.
Always and again I am longing for some "old school driving" with the noise, engine heat and manual transmission.
All for sentimental reasons.

For daily driving, the Taycan is far superior to any ICE in all aspects but driving 400 miles without stopping.
What I would never do voluntarily.

For the first time in my life, I want a hybrid. I just want to be able to pull away from the curb under electric power and then have the V8 rumble to life like the Audi and Cadillac GTP cars.

Yeah , can’t / won’t keep both. I’ll either keep the 4s or change to the gts 4. I could go for a j1.2 but feel the deprecitation is prohibitive

That was my argument too, but when you consider depreciation we've all lost much more even taking gas/ICE upkeep costs into account.

I'm considering a return to ICE myself, which makes me sad...but I want a 2 door with some kind of open roof darnit.

I drove a base 993 for 10 years. After a while I just became bored because despite then handling and the intoxicating smell of old leather and oil, the damn car could not get out of its own way. I went from there to a 997 GTS, then the 991.2 S. That's a good middle ground.

Guys I think we are trying to compare two uncomparable things. And I know exactly why: because we ALL love 911 and we all became addicted to Taycan at the same time. In our hearts nothing will ever give more emotions than a Carrera, but in our mind it is clear that performance and practicality wise nothing comes close to a Taycan. So, of course, best answer would be: buy the 911, maybe not the latest and greatest (imho everything from 997.2 onwards is outstanding) and keep your Taycan. This will tick all the boxes saving mileage on the 911, having practicality when required and the special carrera feeling for special occasions.
If, like myself, you cannot afford them both… then just see who speaks louder to you between love and reason ?
