Don’t count on it. I was spontaneously offered a loaner when I scheduled my appointment for July 22.
Loaners! They don’t give loaners in the UK “for our protection”, at least in Sheffield.

Its more likely an excuse to save themselves money.

I got my recall letter yesterday and made an appointment at my Porsche dealer (Austin, TX, USA) for today to have it addressed.

Service manager at the dealer just called me a few min ago and said that they don’t have the recall software update yet from Porsche for the recall, and that they were advised it would likely be mid-August or September before they received it.

It’s annoying that they sent the letter out to owners but aren’t immediately allowing dealers to perform it, but glad that they called me so as to not waste time.

I checked in this morning for my HUD issue and the service advisor immediately informed me they would also conduct the recall update. I’m the first at my dealer. Everyone send my Taycan good thoughts.

On a humorous note, the advisor thought I was saying “hood” when I said “HUD”. He must have thought I was an idiot at first. “The HUD spontaneously stopped working, and when you enter and exit the car there is a noise coming from the HUD area for a few seconds.” I mentioned another Tayan owner reported that after connecting the diagnostic tool that the HUD started working again. He didn’t say anything to me, until he read the notes I provided when creating the appointment. “It says here you’re also having a problem with your heads up display?”

(pause.. me looking at the advisor like he’s nuts…)

Thankfully we figured it out while checking in. I can just imagine picking up the car to discover the HUD still not working but no problem found with the hood… ??‍♂

Received my email notification yesterday. March 2021 build. I’m currently 800+ miles away from home with my car; on a road trip to Chicago…

Let me know if they actually do the recall update for you. Per my post above, service manager at my dealer said they didn’t have the recall SW update yet.

I tried two local dealers and both gave me the same story. One said the update wasn't released to them yet, another said they didn't have the module they need to do the update. Neither seemed to be aware of the recall situation.

This is puzzling on a few fronts. This update should be the same AMB5 update they are required to put on new Taycans before they leave the lot. Ask your dealer what they are doing for those cars and why the same update cannot be applied to your car. My Bay Area dealership allowed me to schedule update on July 20th and the service note says AMB5 recall campaign. I hope Porsche is not tweaking AMB5.

I am not sure if new Taycans will receive the AMB5. I have also seen messages about an updated WMA5, so could be they are applying the updated WMA5 (because the car at hand hasn't got the WMA5 yet) and don't need to apply the AMB5 update once done with the updated WMA5 update.

Just scheduled my AMB5 appointment for next week at my local dealership. They estimate it will take an hour but I requested a loaner (which they've reserved for me) in case it takes much more than that. They said the only reason it would take longer is if there are a bunch more AMB5s being performed at the same time that day.

Remember we’re dealing with “car people first/software people…maybe tenth” at Porsche service centers vs say, Tesla. So I’m expecting much hilarity to ensue in the near term while they get their collective act together. ?

Got my notice yesterday, called Porsche Albuquerque service manager Niles, and he looked up my car, verified it requires the power module software upgrade and put me in the queue to be scheduled. He's not giving us actual dates for our upgrades yet, because they are working on their first one right now, and they will be evolving their schedule as they learn more about the time/effort it takes to do one. He verified they will provide a loaner when they do it, but said it won't be a Taycan. They can't keep Taycans on their lot for very long.
