Interesting.
so, that’s might be a workaround…. Lock the car, go few meters away, then come back (it will unlock automaticaly), and walk away again (and it will lock)…
strange, but i’ll give it a try.

btw: just checked if it locked automaticaly after I came home (four hours ago) and left it opened. It was still unlocked. So looks that @kort has unique edition ;)
I am trying different scenarios. The PCM shows no option for locking that I can see. Just the unlock.

What I do not understand is why the mirrors do not retract when it "relocks itself." If the lock set up in the PCM is fold in mirrors, they should fold in all locking situations.

Mirrors folding needs to be set separately…somewhere in PCM.

Is the car supposed to lock when you walk away with the key? I thought I've seen that mentioned somewhere. It isn't working in my car...
My car has comfort access and it does not do this. When I get out of the car, I have to touch the little indentation on the door handle, then the car will lock the doors. Also, if my phone is in the same pocket with the car key, sometimes it interferes with comfort access.

fwiw: yes there is a setting for folding the mirrors and when I lock the car via the door button or key fob the mirrors fold, when the car self locks the mirrors do not fold for me.

The option for the mirror folding is in the PCM, but only works if you press the comfort access on the door or your key fob to lock the car.

If the car is locked with the mirrors folded and you walk near the car and it unlocks (and you do not enter it) and walk away and it automatically relocks, it does not fold up the mirrors. This sounds like a software fix that Porsche needs to add.

Try this Tony. Lock the car and walk away. Come back and (key in pocket) walk close to the car. The car should unlock. Do not open the door. Walk away (i think you have to be 19.5 feet) and watch the car and you should see it lock (lights flash, door handle close (mirror will not fold up)).

Haven’t tried that yet, but I will….that might be workaround….even without folded mirrors.
(and hopefully nobody will see me how I’m walking away, coming back, etc…

I read the PGTKA. It does not discuss the operation of the mirrors folding or not folding with the automatic locking feature. It does mention "locking automatically after the 45 seconds if left unlocked, but is not clear on the conditions that allow that to happen.

If I pull in my driveway and get out of the car and go in the house without locking the car, it does not "automatically lock" after 45 seconds I wish it did this, but I cannot make it happen.

The only instance I can get it to automatically lock is when the car is already locked and I walk by (with the fob in my pocket) and it unlocks (and I do not open a door) and then walk away; the 45 second automatic lock does lock the car (but does not fold the mirrors).

@submatrix are you aware of an automatic locking after the car was in use and parked?

I'm not aware of any Taycan functionality that automatically locks the car in the normal case of parking, getting out, and walking away.

that all makes sense, but don't think it is a work-around as for this scenario to happen, it seems that you have to have locked it at some point, manually.
I think what it is doing is just sensing the comfort access 'unlocking feature' and then realizes that you did not actually enter and access the vehicle, so it goes back to the last default position. Which in this case is the locked status (that again, you had to manually set to at some point). @PDACPA the Good To Know, shows what I am stating......it as an 'unlock' feature, not a auto-locking feature anywhere where you don't have to manually lock it at some point.

If Kort has this feature, there must be a setting in his system. I would like to follow up with where he made these changes.

For example, I was one of the anomalies that had the 19.2kW on-board charging option AND could show the screen setting where I was able to click the 'plug'n'charge' option, which was said to not be available. In this case, I could prove/show that this was indeed available and thus, subsequently plug'n'charge worked almost all the time for a while (now I think the problem is with EA and not the car). However, this was only able to be accessed and used, due to the available settings in the car. In my case, this was available based on a series of diagnostics and updates that my dealer performed that enabled this to happen (I actually didn't know it was unique at the time and just thought it was always there, as they were focused on fixing an issue that would not allow me to charge at any fast charger in the first few weeks of ownership). So, in this case, it was not a special anomaly from the factory, it was due to manipulation of the software to fix a much larger issue, that had a side-effect of an unforeseen benefit.

@kort It would be great to know where this is optioned/available to change so we can go and look to see if others have this available, greyed-out, or simply not there on other cars; as well as if this was always there or if this was a new feature that just showed up for you?

I’ll give it a shot. This car is full of surprises and hidden features.

@submatrix & @TycanNewHampshire I agree with you both.

Prior to getting the car, I thought I read a post that someone said they get out of the car (and do not hit the power button) and it locks and shuts off after they are a certain distance away. I might be mistaken and they were hitting the lock on the fob.

Would be nice to have it auto-lock (if it does not sense the key in the car and the fob has moved out of range) and that was the feature I was trying to "find" or see if I could make happen; but sounds like it is not possible.

I’ve had my car for 4 days and it has auto-locked each time I get home, turn it off and walk away from it.

I am only saying this since you have only had the car 4-days....but are you sure it "locked". The car does close its door handles and seems like it is 'locking', but without the handles extended one can still just manually pull open the door.
